Beneficial tube replacement

You're right Neil. It is a take it or leave it sort of thing. I just find his music so offensive I sort of lose control when addressing him. I think it's because Khenu and I would use exactly the same words to describe dub and even claim the same influences (e.g. Lee Scratch Perry), but when...

Beneficial tube replacement

Khenu it's remarkable comparing the contrast between your verbose pomposity and your apparent confusion over what to do with a cracked valve... <BR> <BR>Just answer this question for me: do you still maintain that you produce reggae? <BR> <BR>The verbose and pompous pretentious drivel on your websit...

Beneficial tube replacement

Khenu, you wrote: <BR> <BR>"If one of the tubes was blown, would it totally eliminate the reverb effect? I bought mine off e-bay and the first tube (farthest from the large casing) seems blown. There is a bit of white frost at one end, and it seems like a hairline crack on the side. Sound se...

Ganja smoke in the studio?

It is not possible to "abuse" ganja. If you can't face yourself and your creator with open eyes, you are rebelling against yourself and you can only delay the inevitable by avoiding ganja. Ganja brings immediacy of consequence. Everyone reaps what they sow. <BR> <BR>It is not a drug. It is from Jah ...

dubs of marley

There is an EXCELLENT dub of Exodus on Elektro Dub Orkestra's "Heavy Automatic" &#40;an LP released by Mad Professor's Ariwa studio in the 80s&#41;. I have it and I deffo recommend it.

My new dub track

Yes, I meant delay. It must have been the reverb I was hearing. I must admit I thought you were using a loop for the bass, or else were keyboarding it. <BR> <BR>I do a number of operations to achieve the low frequency sound I want. I try to make it sound as strong and detailed and wide as possible,...

My new dub track

I just turned up the bass. Sounds like you've put a steady echo on the bass. The track has a slower feel than it might have, because of the timing of apparent echo. I would try making it shorter: more punchy.

Nice one!!! Cerebral.. <BR> <BR>I like the voice sample &#40;Bob Marley?&#41; and siren hits. Could use maybe a sharper attack on the guitar skank, and more bass, but there's nothing wrong with it at all.

Mike Zee as usual your analysis is perfect. I agree that this music stands on its own as "experimental music", and that the wordy salad (an unfortunate manifesto for Khenu's sound system) is pretty transparent to most informed people who will see it for what it is. <BR> <BR>Khenu I would sa...

I heard "Special Agent K meets Vishal Nagar" (30 minutes long). To be honest I could'nt hear any reggae in this piece (except in a gamelan-type thing that begins a third of the way through and is then sustained for the duration), and the speech voiceover (anti-war soapboxing)...

Just read the bio! I did'nt get it at first - Erik Davis is just a Californian hack! Maybe I took it too seriously then. Today it's electro-acoustic cyberspace, yesterday it was men are from mars, women are from venus.

PS: If Bruce Lee really is the patron saint of your sound system, you should feel more liberated about denouncing the widely-held superstition that there is something magical or unique about people of black African descent and the rhythms they have inherited.

"One thing is clear: the Cartesian coordinate system will no longer suffice as our central conceptual or tactical model for the spaces that surround and shape us. I don't watch much TV, and I did'nt find out about chavs from the TV set. <BR> <BR>Chavs are not "media bollocks", but a visible reality in the UK.
