Re: benidub d571 siren synth

Just connect the siren to the third channel on your mixer and play it on top of the music for additional excitement. Many Dub/Roots sound systems play with only one turntable. Transitions between tunes are created by talking on the mic and/or using the siren together with an echo effect. As an examp...

Re: The Interruptor - Dub Voyage

I think the same. For me, creating moving images worthy of a music video was simply not possible before AI. I wanted to create a video for this tune years ago already. Trying with real life video and also with images scanned from art books was frustrating and only proved how little I knew about film...

For further illustration here is a behind the scenes look at how the opening sequence of the video evolved from a real life picture of oasis huacachina in Peru:

Thanks for your kind words! :D The visuals were created using two different A.I. tools: VQGAN+CLIP This is a method to create images from text prompts. Optionally a photograph can be used as a starting point to guide the artificial intelligence. The process involves improving the picture over many i...

The Interruptor - Dub Voyage

A Dub track I created inspired by a night spent in nature under an open sky. Mixed live on a Midi Controller (BCR2000) with SonicCore Scope soundcard and some tasty outboard: Fisher Spacexpander, Tape Delay (DIY), Ibanez BBD. Instruments: Modular Synth, Moog Voyager, Karp Odyssey, MFB-522 Analog Dru...

Hello my old Friend, from very long time ago!

Thanks for the heads up..
I had a listen to the demo tracks for these packs. Most seemed very clichéed to me. But depending on the sound you are after, they might be just what's needed.

Re: How Can I Get The Crunchy Reverb & Phaser Guitar Sound?

Beware though.. It‘s easy to go down the rabbit hole of gear hoarding. Perry‘s creativity and open-mindedness had a higher impact on his sound than the exact phaser and reverb models he had at his disposal. He was very skillful at getting the best out of a rudimentary setup.

Re: How Can I Get The Crunchy Reverb & Phaser Guitar Sound?

Lee Perry was known to use a Mutron biphase at the time, as can be seen in this video: https://youtu.be/y651C7aNXRc?t=207 A new version "mutron bi-pase ii" is available since recently. However I don 't know how close it is to the original: https://mu-tron.com/shop/pedals/bi-phase-ii-vintage-silver/ ...

Re: How do I make Jungle Drum loops

You can do this type of editing in a DAW by stretching a drum Loop to different tempos and then spliting each loop into pieces which you can rearrange as you like. There is also a software called Isotope breaktweaker which is meant to speed-up the process. Since cujo /amon tobin is around for over 2...

I just came across this 20 page paper by Sean Williams from the University of Edinburgh. This is a very interesting read!

Hi I am not really fluent with this genre, but I'd start with the foundation which as I understand are recordings like these from the basic channel label: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tXmoDip_Pg&list=PLzhtzupJ_gz8fVDJyqSxvZncvYgs5rkpF slightly less spaced-out: the vocal versions of the same trac...

Re: Historical Info on Dub Sirens

I don't know where it all started, but sirens have been around for as long as I remember. Searching online I noticed that a specific siren called NJD SE-1 is mentioned a lot, because Jah Shaka is using it. He can be heard/seen playing one in the clip below from the Movie Babylon from 1980. Also on h...
