You don't need to connect your mixer with USB, unless it has usb send and return for each single channel, which I doubt, because then you wouldn't have bought an interface. You set drums and bass to different channel outputs and they still go to the same channel on your mixer? How is that possible? ...

Your output settings in Reaper must be wrong. Go ask in a Reaper forum for instructions for a correct setup, I can't help you with Reaper as I only used Ableton Live and Renoise for this. But I am very sure it can be done with Reaper. You really have to set each channel output individually to a diff...

Once you've recorded everything (this is an art in it's own right) and mixed everything (also...) in your DAW, set each track to a different output of your interface. I suggest grouping some of them, for instance all drums on the same channel. Next hook up your interface outputs to your mixing desk ...

When youre done mixing your tracks in your DAW you have two choices of dubbing them: 1)hook up a midi controller to your daw, and just let your DAW play back your song while you manipulate the effects and sounds with your midi controller 2)if your interface has at least 8 outputs and you have some o...

Three brand-new songs online!

www.soundcloud.com/dubwillner We are a 7 piece live band from Dresden, and we just finished recording our demo. We recorded everything in our rehearsal space and everything was recorded live. I would be thrilled if you could find the time to give me some feedback. We also are also trying to find som...

Fisher K-10 Spaceexpander PROJECT for sale / Germany

Hey, already quite some time ago I bought this Spaceexpander from the US on ebay. I started working on it, but never found the time to finish it, so I am selling this unfinished project. You can find tons of schematics on the web, so for someone with a little time and some decent soldering skills it...

panning and stereo in general

How do you guys approach panning when mixing dub? In my opinion, there are a lot elements that are so strong, they require to be in the center, but then, which elements should not be in the center? If I had a song with drums, bass, skanks and a melodica, I would feel that everything needs to be in t...

I am on a tight tight budget and cannot afford more than 300€ for the pair.
Do you think the Samson Rubicon R8A would be a good choice?

Oldschool Dub Kickdrum Sample?

Can anyone give me a good sample of an oldschool dub kick? I mean like 70s or 80s Dub (Tubby, Scientist...). Not talking about heavy kicks of modern British Stepper. We don't have a proper mic for kick drum, so it never sounds good on our recordings, and I am looking into replacing it with a sample....

studio monitor recommendations

Hey, I am finally looking into buying some studio monitors. Of couse dub is very bass heavy so I guess it has special needs on monitors. From what I've read, most quality monitors are only down to 40 or even 50 Hz, and I am a bit worried if that would be enough for dub, or if I would need to use a s...

Skank sound recommendations

I think some skank sounds are created not only by playing technique but also by production techniques. I am a guitarist in a dub band (check my soundcloud to hear me skanking), but to be honest, I only got one sound and it's a bit bland. So if anyone of you would mind sharing some EQ settings to get...

This is a huge desk. Why on earth would you need something that big? And do you really have enough space and the capabilites to lug it around if you were giggin? Usually something between 8 and 16 tracks is enough for dub in my opinion. If you buy a nice A&H or Soundcraft for the same money but less...

It would seem like that, but the KORG monotrons are incredibly cheap, noisy and one-trick ponies. The monoTRIBE is a whole different league. It's still quite cheap, but a real instrument. http://cdn.synthtopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/korg-monotribe.png It costs less than some custom built dub...

No, these are recorded track by track, because we don't have a drum cabin and I don't want the other instruments to leak into the drum track. We perform it live kind of the same way, but this was dubbed afterwards by me. Except this version has got 2 guitar tracks, live it only has one and keyboards...

I'll give the Line 6 Roto Machine a try.
But do guitar effect pedals work with keyboards? I remember once hooking up my phaser pedal to the M1 and it didn't work.

My approach is hardware, Korg M-1 :D (But it can't hurt to know how to make one in a DAW too using wave-forms and effects.) It has some Hammond presets but they don't sound good, so I want to know how I can modify them or make some new ones to have a slightly more authentic sound. I know it will nev...
