What organ is this?
Hello, For a long time I'm wondering what organ is used on some early 80's Sly an Robbie tunes. Or better yet, any ideas how to create it??? It's a very typical kind of organ sound ( sounds hammered ) and heared on songs with Don Carlos, Charlie Chaplin etc. I have put a link below of Poppa Chaplin'...

You can do nice things with this pedal. Small, clean ( if thats what you want :D ) and dont need any maintenance. You can use it as an isert, even on aux. I also agree on the reverb part...dont like it. I have opened one up to see if it can be fitted into a 19" box because I dont like pedals around ...

Thats a great looking project youre working on!!! Cant wait to see the progress and see and hear the result. Big up for only even starting building stuff like that! Maybe it would be cool to have some control over the brightness in the spring verb part in any way instead of just dry/wet. Thats just ...

Could be on more than one models of the yamaha keyboard but I have a Yamaha PSS 790 with exact that sound in it. http://en.audiofanzine.com/keyboard-arranger/yamaha/PSS-790/medias/pictures/a.play,m.40564.html On the left of the second picture you see a little part with a " toggle switch " called Vec...

I dont know what you consider cheap but I had some simple Aria spring reverb ( from the 90's ) a few years ago. It was a 19 inch unit and it had 2 in/outputs and some control knobs...nothing more. Didnt cost much then, around 50 euros so maybe if you look around it could be found. Sounded ok but gav...

Old roots on TV
When I was living in Holland as a youth we had some German stations on the television too. I never watched it because I didnt understand the language. Except for 1 music program called Rockpalast coming forward once a week or so. Artists with a lot of different styles of music performed there... A l...

In this studio one chune they use something simular I guess.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47QN7YK_-xY
More of a percussion style use of a synth drum all over the chune.

Ya man, Flextone hehe, funny instrument. Most of the time the little strip with the ball was broken off and the metal of the flexatone was hit with a drumstick or something to have more control over the sound and timing. I guess they used a waaaayyy bigger version in some recordings too. Sounds like...

Nuff thanks for the info!!! Yeah, Kazoo like. It's such a typical sound, one of the elements that made that Tubby / Scientist sound yunno. In most cases mixed more in the background tho. Could it be that there is a wah wah or auto wah ( dunno if auto wah even exist back in the days ) somewhere in th...

Is this a guitar?
I'm new here but into reggae for a long while. Among other sounds there is one sound I cant figure out what it is for a long time and I really would love to know. It kind of typicall 70's from the house of Tubby and I would guess it's a guitar with some strange effect(s) on it. But I could be so wro...
