Re: Vocal Bundle by Dreadstar Vocals

Hello my old Friend, from very long time ago!

Thanks for the heads up..
I had a listen to the demo tracks for these packs. Most seemed very clichéed to me. But depending on the sound you are after, they might be just what's needed.

Re: How Can I Get The Crunchy Reverb & Phaser Guitar Sound?

Beware though.. It‘s easy to go down the rabbit hole of gear hoarding. Perry‘s creativity and open-mindedness had a higher impact on his sound than the exact phaser and reverb models he had at his disposal. He was very skillful at getting the best out of a rudimentary setup.

Re: How Can I Get The Crunchy Reverb & Phaser Guitar Sound?

Lee Perry was known to use a Mutron biphase at the time, as can be seen in this video: https://youtu.be/y651C7aNXRc?t=207 A new version "mutron bi-pase ii" is available since recently. However I don 't know how close it is to the original: https://mu-tron.com/shop/pedals/bi-phase-ii-vintage-silver/ ...

Re: How do I make Jungle Drum loops

You can do this type of editing in a DAW by stretching a drum Loop to different tempos and then spliting each loop into pieces which you can rearrange as you like. There is also a software called Isotope breaktweaker which is meant to speed-up the process. Since cujo /amon tobin is around for over 2...

Research on Tubby‘s techniques

I just came across this 20 page paper by Sean Williams from the University of Edinburgh. This is a very interesting read!

Re: Dub albums recommendation, for a Dub Techno listener

Hi I am not really fluent with this genre, but I'd start with the foundation which as I understand are recordings like these from the basic channel label: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tXmoDip_Pg&list=PLzhtzupJ_gz8fVDJyqSxvZncvYgs5rkpF slightly less spaced-out: the vocal versions of the same trac...

Re: Historical Info on Dub Sirens

I don't know where it all started, but sirens have been around for as long as I remember. Searching online I noticed that a specific siren called NJD SE-1 is mentioned a lot, because Jah Shaka is using it. He can be heard/seen playing one in the clip below from the Movie Babylon from 1980. Also on h...

You achieved a nice vintage delay sound featuring different delay patterns. Did you switch presets on the fly on the other delay unit?

Re: Service Manual for Eminent 310 + Rithmix 110

hi i have never operated the rithmix outside of the organ, therefore i can only refer to p.27 of the service manual where it says the rithmix is suplied with 25V from the organ. I suggest you should also study p.28 to figure out which connectors on the unit must be connected to 25V and ground. regar...

I never used the DE-200. I have a Roland SDE-1000 here though which seems to do very similar things, e.g. it also has a "time x2" button. Great devices.. :D

Re: Roots Radics Style Dub Snares

I just found this video: DM Kahn shows in detail how he gets the roots radics sound: - Ludwig Supraphonic 402 alu snare - tune the top membrane to ca. 160Hz - tune the bottom membrane one octave higher (ca. 320 Hz) - dampen some of the snare wires - dampen one third of the top membrane with a piece ...
