utilizing a sansui ra-500 reverb amp as an effect.
I'm wishing I still had that sansui reverb to mess with. they seem pretty common, maybe i'll run across another one. I still need a spring box for dedicated dropkicking.

Anyone using Reason for Dub? looking for collaboration
Yeah, I just downloaded the reason demo. it looks cool, like hardware. I'm going to have to learn a lot about it before i can make something really creative but it looks like a really cool piece of software. I'll probably have many questions in the future about dubbing with reason but for now, can ...

Ask go to the forums section at tascam.com and select the analog and vintage forum. If you ask there the people will be able to tell you your options. Most teac/tascam noise reduction is dbx. I like the dbx on my portastudio, it helps elliminate a lot of the noise associated with narrow format anal...

Tape echo simulators
That daneelectro tape echo pedal looks cool, its designed to look like an echoplex or something. but you won't get the real subtle things about tape echo that make it sound so "organic" without a real tape loop going around.

Acid 4.0 I've found is the best for dub
Okay guys, just thought I'd go over my technique for using Acid and see if anyone has any helpful input. I'm still using Acid ver 2.0, I am going to check out the new version eventually to see what improvements have been made but I havent yet. I am just mixing and matching different beats and loops...

Get the 150. <BR>the spring reverb isnt that great on the rolands anyway. unless youre going for that kind of sound.. <BR> <BR>If you want sound-on-sound for a more modest price look at a multivox tape echo. I have two <IMG SRC="http://www.interruptor.ch/cgi-bin/discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":)...

Give this BBC radio one broadcast a listen if you like. Its a very good verbal history of sound systems and dub in both JA and the UK. <BR> <BR><A HREF="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/media/g2/do ... am">direct link to the broadcast</A>

Check ebay, it varies. I paid what you would pay for a new "top of the line" tascam portastudio today for the 246 i bought a few years ago. But mine was a demo with no real recording time on it. What did you pay for yours in '87? $2k? <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.interruptor.ch/cgi-bin/discus/clipart/h...

MXR anolog delay - any good?
Remeber that an analog delay is probably only capable of shorter delays when compared to a tape echo unit such as roland's. If you want a pedal that sounds kind of like a tape echo you could look at the akai headrush, i hear it does the job well.

Which brands/models are usually used for Dub?
The way I've heard it described, as far as analog decks go, Otari's machines overlap with the higher end of Teac/TASCAM's line. Fostex is thought to meet or even be sub-par to the low-end TASCAM gear. <BR> <BR>I myself have a very analog studio setup, with my computer being the only digital compone...

Which synth to use for basslines?
The Roland sh-101 has the fattest, most boomin' low end of any synth in its class. I'd own one, but I can't play keys. I think I'll buy a melodica first and try to teach myself some basics on that. <IMG SRC="http://www.interruptor.ch/cgi-bin/discu ... /happy.gif" ALT=":)"> <BR> <BR>Kevin

Buy a Y-cable with RCA plugs on one end and an 1/8" plug on the other. Connect the RCAs to the line outs of your mixer and plug the other end into the soundblaster's line in.
