KoCha - Lions Tribe Dub (From the new "Almighty Dub
Lion's tribe dub, my observations:

+ basic musical idea with potential for a good dub is there.

+ you mastered the basic techniques of live dub mixing.

- offbeat: you are not playing full chords, but single notes of a guitar sample. these give an idea of where you...

bin_ez's'z'z old remix
hey bin_ez.. i heard the track. i can subscribe 100% to what kocha is pointing out. some of the vocal delays in the first part are going on too long so that they clash with the music from the band which is playing different chords in the meantime (check at 0:35). this will sound strange to ...

Making Crash DSP Reverb (reverb + feedback)
yeah.. this technique is well known. check the paragraph "Reverb effect with a feedback loop" on the effects page where yaniko described the exact same thing. it also works great to boost the mid/high frequencies in the feedback loop of a tape del...

spring reverb plug ins
if you are just after the "tubby kick the amp" sound you could also kick a guitar amp with spring reverb yourself and take some samples. in my opinion for this thundering noise it's not so important to get the EXACT same sound to achieve the same feel as it is with reverb applied to drum hits.

indeed.. i also searched the net for spring reverb plug-ins some time ago and only came accross the same paragraph mike has cited above in green color!

it seems that nowaday's market for vintage/spring reverbs is mostly driven by guitar players and these guys want a real hardware box they ...

also on your keyboard you could probably do some editing of the available preset sounds and thus get a dubbier bass. follow the tips on the bass page: http://www.interruptor.ch/dub_bass.shtml

Mike, you wrote: One thing for sure, that the sounds of these old "machines" are VERY unique..., you can't get it with modern dsp.

i think it could be done, but nobody really tried so far. let's look at a related technology: digital guitar amplifier modelation. there are digital vintage amp...

i just realized that nobody so far mentioned these favourites of mine:

- G-Corp : Dubplates from the Elephant House, released on Different Drummer, late nineties.
G-Corp capture some of the authentic feel and groove from the classic dub / rocksteady / reggae era and bring it to these mo...
