danelectro real echo

The springs in roland's echos are very "boingy" and are described buy some as cheap. For dub, this could be a good thing. I only used it for reverb when I had no other spring verbs. <BR> <BR>I keep the reverb turned off on my space echo most of the time, you cant re-inject the signal with it switch...

Seck mixer model 1882

I agree with what's been said here about aux sends. I have two on my board, one for reverb and one for delay. I have two delays in my setup, an analog, solid state delay and a tape echo. They are both fed via aux 2 through the use of a splitter. <BR> <BR>The reverb return signal is also split to fe...

I dont think any of these companies that produced the vintage tape echos provide support for them now. That is, assuming the manufacturer is still in business. <BR> <BR>In other words, maintaining old tape echos is strictly a DIY activity. You're pretty much on your own to find replacement tape and...

tape echo maintenance?

Just a note: I know now that the Multvox Multi Echos were not made by Roland. Multivox just made many products that were very similar to Roland's designs.

space echo 201: squeak problem

One of my multivox tape echos squeaks when you operate it. It's a problem with the pinch rollers in the unit, I believe. One may be rubbing slightly on something else in the transport. Hasn't affected function in any way for me, you just may not want to have it running during an overdub in the conr...

Question from the Confused: Multitrack Recording

I mix down to my computer, so that's mainly where digital comes into place in my studio. I like being able to polish my mixes with Sound Forge. But, I am thinking of getting a half-track reel machine because computers can get viri or have a number of other problems crop up. Right now, my backup mix...

Question from the Confused: Multitrack Recording

I hate to repeat myself over and over, showing how partial I am to my setup. But, if you are a beginner at dub, I would recommend you scrape together $150-300 and buy an 80's vintage TASCAM 246 portastudio. It must be this model if you want the most versatile, easy to operate portastudio, and it is...

create tape delay with tascam 4-track ?

I think you're using the wrong equipment for tape delay. It would be difficult, if not impossible to use a cassette portastudio as a delay machine. If you would really like to make an echo unit from a tape machine get an old Ampex reel unit or something similar.

Spacexpander, multi-voltage chassis

PS This one was literally unused & unopened. The cords n thing still had the factory ties on them. I bid on it once, but gave up as it was an as-is auction and the whole 220v question. <BR> <BR>The seller said it was from an estate sale, so I'm guessing some guy here in the US got it and never used...

Spacexpander, multi-voltage chassis

Daniel, <BR> <BR>I just saw a complete NOS fisher k-10 on ebay that was wired for 220vac. I also noticed the box was labeled "multi-voltage chassis" or something. Never seen one with the og box and things, not to mention one wired for 220.

Electro Harmonix smallstone phaser?

Look at the user reviews at Harmony Central! I've never seen so many before! Don't have a Small Stone myself, but it sounds like a well-liked phaser with a vintage vibe so, yes, it could be good for dub. <BR> <BR>As for what makes something good for dubbing or not, it's all relative. YOU have to as...

manual for tascam 244

Tascam can maybe provide you with photocopies of the original but it seems to me they really dont care about the documentation for their older, out of production equipment. They'd rather you just buy their newest idea in home recording technology instead of using the ole' 244. <BR> <BR>I would like...

JMX ET-520 Tape Echo?

Degaussing would just improve your high-end response. I wouldnt suggest oiling the tape but do use silicone or graphite type lubricated tape when constructing replacement loops.

JMX ET-520 Tape Echo?

I bought a MX-312 by Multivox (very similar to the Roland space echos but not made by Roland, contrary to some rumors) from a guy on ebay about a year ago. What a mess it was when I got it! I found there was no fine adjustment of delay time because someone had removed the leads to the contr...

Also, I think most MD multi-trackers use the DATA minidiscs, which are harder to find than the regular audio ones.

utilizing a sansui ra-500 reverb amp as an effect.

Thanx, JBSEPIA, but a friend of mine is bringing me an old pioneer reverb for free &#40;i figure if youre setting aside one 'verb for smacking and abuse it should be free or at least cheap!&#41; I will miss that trippy visual display on the Sansui though..

Delay Chips

BBD chips are something that has been of interest to me also as of late. After all, they are the heart of an analog delay box (unless of course we're talking about tape-based delay). I did some research on the panasonic MN3005 that my multivox delay is built around and found that this is on...
