Greetinx! any tips welcome, mostly on - what to do pre dub process, how much effort in designing the sounds, and what to do when it comes to the actual dub process... the first experiments I ripped too much fx I guess beause it was like a mess Well for me, the more traditional way works best. You m...

I see your point also but i was not talking about commercial reggae/dub but rather about true heartfelt vibes. I personally deal only with music where I can hear that it was made for the love of it. I know many sounds are still like this, you can just walk up and hand them a dubplate, if they like i...

I wish i could just build my own stuff like you, but until now i did not have the opportunity to delve into electronics, as my priority was "music first"... Always, wanted to be a musician. But i have made some small projects like a nice spring reverb, and i try to repair every electronic thing that...

 The DMF-2 is a just a cheap standard dub toy compared to the gear you
want to build! If you succeed with your purpose, it will be a legendary dub
machine! One of its kind and truly innovative!

Waiting to see the results of your task

Yes, my uncle has produced a whole Dub-kinda album like this, it called IditafarI Family - Dub Ruffneck. He used old instrumental riddims which we have play in the past, just normal stereo recordings... Some filtering, delay, reverb, some voice bits as overdubs (so there are two stereo tracks overal...

You can do it, in the 70's they used to do versions like this. Some good soundsystems still do it live nowadays.. In particular parts of a tune, they cut or boost hi frequencies or bass with the filters or eq's of their custom built preamps, add FX, sirens, samples, live instruments, so this way ever...

Greetinx, I know many great dub masters produce digital dub and they add extra noise and hiss or vinyl crackles to their mixes as an effect... Besides that, you wont have hardly any noise from the allen & heath zed 16 or from its fx. If you start using older mixers or vintage outboard equipment or f...

Nice one NeilC! I listened on headphones, bass is not loud enough for me (but bassdrum a bit too loud)and maybe some more low end frequencies would be nice on the bassline (80Hz maybe)

Thanks a million Daniel for helping us out here! This one seems to be a good Festival for us. The Contest is only for Swiss bands, but maybe they would book us as a regular act. We also got some good recommendations from the reggae.ch site and we ll just check everything out and apply for the shows ...

Yes, totally agree with you. One has to know exactly what "sound" he needs before he choose the samples, and then just try to reach that goal. Try to find the perfect sound you are searching for for every individual song. So it really is about a lot of experimentation to get the right feeling you ar...

Greetings Mark! Nice piece, hope you intend to keep working on it! I Like the melodica, guitar riddim sounds good, bassline is real good. One thing i dont really "feel" is the drum pattern. If it were my piece i would work on the overall groove and try to create some "space", if you know what i mean...
