I think what you need to do is get a melodica, then read up some basic general piano technique like chords and such so you have a general idea of what your doing, then just listen to music and try to play along by ear.Youll be knocking out your own tunes in no time! Also i imagine breathing techniqu...

Ive had a quick mess about on it and it seems awesome. The only downsides i notice so far is there is no midi not quantise feature (so i have to do it by hand), but then again that could be good, i shouldnt really rely on quantise, i should get my timing better! There seems to be a bigger delay betw...

Reaper (Free DAW)
Just a heads up that this is a very cool looking daw. Not tried it in depth yet, only just downloaded it. Its free to download and evaluate, but they ask you to purchase a £60 license if you continue using the software after that (although it remains unrestricted even if you dont). Does anyone use i...

i use reason alot because i dont have access to a studio, instruments and professional musicians. I find it very good for the drums (using the Drums addon, or refill as they call it) and instruments. The way all the instruments and effects can be tweaked and wired up to virtual mixers and what not i...

i would agree with what dubvolt has to say here. I dont know how to read music and i dont know any scales etc. (i play guitar not bass actually). How i am learning is by playing along to dub versions. Doing this you will realise how many basslines are very similar with just subtle differences in tim...

there is what appears to be very deliberate hiss in a version which i forget the artist/engineer of "mariguana" ("mariguana, mariguana, jah send it on yuh, feel allright now.." is the vocals i can remember) The hiss builds independant of any other effects (as far as my untrained ears can make out). ...

In the documentary "Studio One Story", Coxsone says how he used an Echoplex (if i recall correctly) to get the "chuck-ah" sound (as opposed to a single "ching"). I assume a light reverb with a relatively long predelay or a delay with only a tiny bit of feedback would give a similar effect, although ...

IM afriad ive never seen an actual melodica in real life, so this could be way off the mark..
Can you not unscrew it and open it up?
I had a quick google and it looks like that should be possible, as to tune it you need to open it to get to the metal reeds.

I know this is a very late reply, but i might as well in case you are still looking for it! I believe it to be One More Time by Gregory Isaacs, that is according to the algoriddim website (http://www.algoriddim.com/album.php?album_id=876). Im a big fan of that riddim. Check the Linval Thompson versi...

Re: Dub video clips
It's not free, but the DVD 'Roots, Rock, Reggae' features studio session footage of Lee Perry, and footage/interviews with Joe Higgs, The Gladiators, Mighty Diamonds, The Abbysinians, Third World and Inner Circle.
Filmed in 1977 I believe.

If you're into 'golden age' dub it's a must se...

I think it sounds good. Sounds like a melodica but can be played in the style of an organ or piano as well. perfect mix. Definately has a place in reggae music! I also very much like the tune, old style roots dub! Thank you for posting the music. I also saw you have some pan pipes in one of your pic...
