New replacement tape loops

Any tape can be used as long as it's not metal grade. You can try to fins an old damaged revox machine. splicing blocks are built on them and you can easily rip it off.

To make you tape loop you just need a block and some tape to get the end together. The revox blocks have a cutter built i...

New replacement tape loops

Best tape to use for old tapedelays is simple, cheap and ordinairy LUBtape as being used for jinglecards, good saturation. Run it for 3 hours orso on the delay before actual use.

Do you use live drums or synths/sampling?

I should record hihat and snare onto 1 channel but with seperate mics, so you have to EQ them in a very good way before recording.
All kinds of percussion can be used. As for the timbale sound. mostly it's a normal snare drum but tuned in another way. The drummer of my band used to have 2 snare...

Tape loops in Dub

There are nuff reel to real machines that have sync fuctions. Like a lot of Revox machines. If you want to make loops on tape, you have to cut very precice to get them synced properly.

Mixing desks!

Dunno bout the fx on the Mackie desks. my mackies don't have onboard fx. I prefer dedicated outboard gear. but i have to say a good desk is the most important piece of gear in a Dub studio.
Don't budget on a desk. Good EQ, nuff auxes are important in Dub production.
I agree with Neddy bout ...

Do you use analog or digital recording equipment?

Hey Mike, what i mean is that with a digital desk you have to scroll through many menus before you even can find a delay orso. So the tweaks have to be prerecorded and not "on the fly" like Dub production has to be.

Yes tascam is good in recording machines. But not in desks. I worked nuff different desks. My favorites are the Mackies and Allen & Heath desks.
Macke EQ is very good, nuff headroom and powerfull. I have a Mackie 40:8 desk and it will never leave my studio.
