Non-Live dubbing?

I think whatever works for you is fine.
Most of what I do is not 'live' dubbing (although my stuff is more dub centered than 'pure' dub sounding (however you would define that)).
For instance, in Cubase SX, once I tweak with the mouse a delay time to what sounds right, every...

Free Space Echo vst

I've just come across a free vst recreation of a Space Echo:

http://device.antisound.net/files/arcdev_dubbox.exe

I've never used a Space Echo, but I think this probably comes somewhat close. Even if it ...

Good question, its a great track, and one naturally wonders what the language is/lyrics are. I'd like to find out too.

Stylus RMX 1.2 spring

You're right, it only works as part of Stylus, and you can't route audio through Stylus, so it can only be used on sounds being made in Stylus.

I was curious from a technical point of view, to see if a spring had been done well in the vst environment.

Well, in a word, no.
It g...

Stylus RMX 1.2 spring

The Stylus RMX 1.2 update has just been released which includes 3 new effects one of which is (to quote the site):

Spring Verb – The spring returns! A funky retro effect that faithfully models the sound of the old vintage ‘spring reverb’ tanks of yesteryear, with loads of original ...

Does anyone know the health implications of the bass at a Jah Shaka night?

Surely having the whole of you body and internal organs vibrated for the whole of 4 hours (as happens) must have an affect, I'm just wondering what it is.

Personally, although it was great experienc...

UAD to do re-201

Thanks for the info.
Yes, I'm thinking of setting up a site for my music. It creates a good impression if you can say to people that they can go to your own site. I also want to be able to sell tracks, although I don't anticipate many sales.

UAD to do re-201

The Powweb hosting looks really interesting, I haven't looked into setting up a site before, but it's got me thinking now.
HM - did you 'shop around' before you chose Powweb? Are they to be recommended in comparison to other web hosters?
How easy is it to construct a decent looking site? <B...

Another reason to get a UAD card (I was already tempted, people really rave about them, but I really can't afford one) -

http://www.rolandus.com/news/pressdetai ... sID=372

Primitive Man [Dirty Cave Dub] - minimal dub

Hey, peace everyone.

I think the bass sound is good.

Mr Dubb - wrongness and the concept of 'correct instruments' have no place here in my opinion. And what is it you think 'dub does'?

It was an entertaining 4.30 minutes for me, and what more can you hope for than that.

My DrumDrops review

Anyhow, to get back to the topic - I've had a lot of downloads for OneTwo - much more than usual - I've had 17 downloads of OneTwo whereas last month I only had 4 downloads for all my tracks put together.

I presume most of this is Dub Discussion readers who want to check out DrumDrops, if ...

My DrumDrops review

Yes, you are right. Thing is, there is a local college station that has a dub show on it, and the DJ plays my stuff. I listen on Medium Wave, and if I don't pay attention to the higher frequencies the bass gets lost, but the bass on the commercial releases doesn't. Even though I guess most people l...

My DrumDrops review

Thanks for the info - I'm going through a DOD FX 25 (green pedal) as an envelope filter, which cuts out all the higher frequencies, adding eq and compression and I'm getting the best sound I've had on my system. I boost what remains of the higher regions in order to make the bass audible on...

correction: There are also phrase samplers still being made, but they're not designed for the job in question.

And if you had a laptop you could also run one of the many software samplers (or suitable software synths on it).

Jed - there is, I think, nothing about the Yamaha samplers (now discontinued) that will allow you to get a better Taurus sound than by using any other suitable hardware sampler.
Apparently the Yamaha samplers had very good effects and sound manipluation facilties, but the load and save ...

Well, Accutronics make hammond type 4 spring tanks (which is what the spacexpander tank is - I think Spacexpander just put their stamp on it - mine is orginal and it has the Spacexpander logo on the outside but the inside has a plate on it saying made by Hammond, Type IV))apparently to ...

The drumdrops DVD's come in 2 types - one is short loops (+ single hits etc.) and the other is full 'songs' that split into seperate tracks in your sequencer as if you'd recorded a drum kit on to multiple tracks yourself (so you can adjust the level of individual kit elements (&...

Drum Drop just sent me a 2.30 minute long Style Scott track (in response to me asking for an audio demo) and it sounds very good to me. It's not something I could easily do with recyle and my beat programming.
Firstly, the playing is very good. Secondly the sounds are exactly right - I ...
