It's quite interesting and I liked it but it doesn't seem to be dub to me. It's difficult to make any dub without a bass line (I don't think in all my dub albums there is any track without bass even if it's put through effects), and if you do then the rest would have to be more traditional dub sound...

And they were made using vintage equipment.

They have the whole song length drum performance in multi-track form.

Looks pretty cool. Can you adjust the amount/time the distortion of repeats? If that makes sense? I mean like how the kajerhaus classic delay has a control called "quality": the lower the quality, the more distorted the repeats are each time. . It has very extensive options to control the repats - ...

Yes, it's good. I won't be forking out for it because it doesn't do anything compelling above what I already have (I don't want complex mutli tap delays and that sort of thing). But I prefer it's re-201 setting to the UAD Re-201. It's a little different and the plus point for the 201 on the echo tri...

Re: video

that may be, regardless, the closer you play to the middle of the vibrating string, the more square-wave the tone. Yes. But in the video the natural bass sound is still clealy audible along with the effect - and making it more square would alter its standard sound. It's also worth noting that not a...

Yes, I think you might be right.

The player in the video is nowhere near plucking over the neck.

This has got to be one of the weirdest threads I've ever seen. I thought the title was a mistype. Perry had a thing for burying stuff. When he was staying with Adrian Sherwood, Adrian came back one day to find that Perry had buried Sherwood's expensive brand new TV in the back garden. I suppose it's...

To reiterate Interruptor's point: Those VST to AU wrappers as far as I can tell are largely pointless, at least with Intel Macs. You have to use a MAC version of a VST to convert it to AU - and I don't know of any Mac VSTs that don't also come in a straight AU version anyway. The wrapper will not ma...

Difficult to be exact. It's a synth sound - it may have reverb built into the patch or added. It's possible it's some kind of effects unit. Some bass multi-effects and general effects units have a 'synth' effect that adds a synth sound to the source audio signal. When the bass starts in the live vid...

Simple.
It isn't a reverb - it's a delay with a short delay time. Almost any delay should be capable of giving you an effect just like that.
There does happen to be a little reverb added to the delay but that's incidental.

The Fireface 800 is the right category of interface to do this with (multi-channel interface). The tracks in your DAW will show all the outputs available to you (if you want to see them). If you have your DAW set up correctly you will see on each audio track all the 8 analogue outputs plus the digit...

The HS 80 are styled to some extent after the NS10 - and that is one of the most forward sounding speakers in common use ever - so if you don't like aggressive I think they may not be for you. Apparently the MSP 5 are quite aggressive too. There are loads of monitors available and I expect dub produ...

Hello, What do you mean by analog speakers? All speakers are 'analog'. Even if the speaker has a digital input that digital signal has to be converted into an analog one. The point of a main studio monitor is to be clear. You want a mix that will translate well to other systems - not sound good only...

VST ('Virtual Studio Technology') is just Steinberg's name for the plug ins developed for Cubase - many other DAWS, like Logic, can use this format now. Cubase used to be called Cubase VST. VST's are plug ins - and plug ins can be effects, instruments or processing or utilities of other kinds. If yo...
