Dub in Anime

I've just heard an excellent dub track in the background of the classic groundbreaking anime series Cowboy Bebop. It's the episode where Ed gets electrocuted and the e-chess piece is revealed by Ed to be a data storage device. The dub is playing during this scene, which cuts away to scenes of the space ship in outer space, and a smaller ship launching and docking. Inspirational!

for those who have never seen the series (like me) here are some dvd cover images. these images do not hint at the sci-fi theme of the series though..

Just want to say that the TSR 'Televison Suisse Romande' use sometimes 70's dub track in some documentary, I often listen to some tubby's or scientist track on this swiss local TV.

I remember 5 or 6 show where I noticed jamaican dub music.

I think somebody in the society love dub music :D

Just another quick heads-up on Cowboy Bebop, which is in the middle of a set of repeats on Anime Central. The name of the episode containing the dub music I mentioned earlier was 'Bohemian Rapsody'.

And just generally, the drum programming on this series is really masterful. The composer has sampled some old-time drums from 20th century American 'race records', and has reassembled them in a tracker or similar sequencer which typically just repeats a pattern over and over without variation in velocity or other automated parameters. It sounds like he really knows his stuff when it comes to drum programming.. In every episode, there is this fast hand-drumming which even though it's sequenced sounds completely natural. There's a lot to take in with Cowboy Bebop - you have to watch it several times. Excellent stuff.
