Shanachie sells a 1 hour BBC documentation from 1977/78 called Roots Rock Reggae which features footage from a Lee Perry recording Session (few minutes only), also interviews, concerts, studio sessions with other heavyweights of the time: Gladiators, Joe Higgs, Jack Ruby, Inner Circle, Jimmy Cliff, Abyssinians, ...
others have been raving about it on this forum already, see these links: link1, link2
JohnP even recorded the bassline from that Perry session in a dub of his own..

you know what i kind of found 'strange', that there's no actually something like 'dub-videos-in studio', ala "instructional videos".
you know, there's tone of videos on recording stuff, not to mention guitar, drums lessons and such... ton of'em..., most of them useless, of-course.
Yeah, I know, that there no (maybe) a such a thing as: 'how to dub right' ,
but there's sure allot to talk about, to show some 'tools' in action, some related technical tricks, recording sessions etc etc , which would be at least fun to watch.
I would not expect to get anything 'sensible from technical point' from LSP , but there are guys who could show/share allots of stuff I would wish to check out.

well, maybe it's also because there's allts of smockey-mystery about / around DUB, and thus we MUST keep it that way

later,
respects,

/Mike Zee
zee dub lab

Great video from http://www.punkcast.com/478/... go to dub trio. Click on pic. You won't be disapointed. Fuckin aewsome, look for their new album 'Exploring the Dangers of..' by ROIR. Its AMAZING. Drum and bass has NeVeR sounded better, not to forget the unexplainable talent of the guitarist. WOW

thanks for the plug brooksha.

there is other dub stuff on punkcast if one looks.

another good reggae tv special was "Deep Roots Music" - i think it was - that was shown on UK Ch.4 in it's early days (81?). This was six one hour episodes shot in JA plus good archive footage. Included are visits to Bunny Lee's and Lee Perry's studios, chats with people like Duke Reid's wife and Sonia Pottinger. I borrowed a dodgy vhs copy a few years ago and ripped it to VCD which i have backed up somewhere. If interested, mail me and i'll try and dig it out.

joly

and i'm recalling that there is a movie 'reggae in babylon' or something like that that a german guy shot in London around 78. That has some nice footage of coxsone sound at the aklam.

joly
