does dub have any religious implications? (I was asked this question by Robby Macleod who is investigating about dub for his zine "i want less". I thought some of you might have a view to share about this too..)

It certainly has for many of the key figures in the british dub scene (Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti, Alpha and Omega) but rather not for King Tubby and his followers Scientist and Prince Jammy (=King Jammy since the late 80ies). I think it really depends on who's dubs you are looking at.

Daniel, there's no simple answer to this question. It's complicated as it goes. But I'd say it's not about DUB as art-form, but rather about people in DUB and what they are like, what they are after (or behind <IMG SRC="http://www.interruptor.ch/cgi-bin/discu ... /happy.gif" ALT=":)">)... This one quote may say allot, as example: I know that over 6 years ago God called me (Mark Mohr) to start my own record company "Lion of Zion". I just had to wait for God's specific timing before I embarked on this serious task. /mz

Dub,. and reggae, is very spiritual art-forms in my opinion,... they resonate the spiritual nerve so to say,. not every dub artist might know fully the deept of what he is dealing with,.. and some might not be mature to admit, JAH gave hes gifts to all man and with big generousity, so if some don´t worship the most high they can still keep the gift given to them, somehow I feel that true art always apears like kinda worship, just like a substance that returns back from where it came HM

Dub has more to do with smoking herb than any religon. so light up a spliff & dub a reggae track my brethren.

Soul rebel rocker, don't come here and talk about something you dont know anything about. If u think dub is about smoke and get hi then u dont know what u talk about. Dub is a style of music, an art-form. Its a way to express your feelings. But if you think its easier to reatch your inner feelings when your hi, its up to u. But dont say dub is about smoking herb!
