well... i have a little mac. for the bass i use a freeware synth called FREE ALPHA (i use it not only for the bass)... there are a lota a nice free plug ins, AUTOMAT is another good synth for the saw or square waves... there is also another great plug in: DaHORNET.... wundebar!!! for the "vintage" sounds is a very good intrument...
