reggae dub sounds for synth Yamaha TG55

Post by billaboom » Sat Feb 15, 2003 4:51 pm

Hi everybody!

Yeah, i'm lookin for a synth set up to get a good reggae dub sound out of my synth. i have a rack synth Yamaha TG55 tone generator, kind of old thing from the early 90's but it got lot's of wave forms you can mix, osc, AEG and effect as echo, delays, reverbs... The sound can be really precisely shaped...

Do u know about a good set up? you know to get that counter beat synth sound!

Tnankx

i don't understand exactly what you are looking for.. preset sounds?
i own a TG77 rack unit.. the tg55 must be a similar unit. i was dowloading a lot of sounds for this synth from the internet some years ago.
programming your own sounds is rather complicated (like with most Yamaha gear of that time).

cheers
Daniel

Hi Dan,

there are some really good preset sounds into the TG55, but none of them really satisfy me for dub synth sound. So i'm trying to built my own through combining elements, filters, osc from the TG. But there are so much possibilities.
I'm actually looking for a good combination of waves, filters and all of that to get this Dub Specialist synth sound.

Hey, What's that about downloding sounds for the TG from the net? Would you tell me how does it work and which site provide them?

Thanks mate
billaboom

i once programmed a bass sound on the tg77 using the fm synthesis, but i didn't use it for very long time as i got my first sampler soon and thereafter always used the sampler for bass..

about the sounds: check this review page with links
here is another page: link

find more pages with this search engine call

usually the sounds come as SYSEX Dumps of whole banks (SYSEX = Midi System Exclusive Data) which you can send via midi to the synth with any sequencer program. read in the synth manual how to send and receive sys-ex dumps.

good luck
Daniel
