I've recently started listening to dub and I love it. I've heard songs here and there and I have purchased Keith Hudson's - pick a dub and King Tubby-75-79. I was wondering if anyone can suggest some real dark melancholic dub albums done through the 70s and 80s from anyone you might know? Sounding less summerish with less guitar and focusing on more bass reverb, delay and echoes.
Check the Scientist production... you will LOVE IT!

Greensleeves make great re-release of scientist album.

If think scientist have the more dark mix style, with bass reverb/phasing.

See You,

KoCha
From The Almighty-Dub.com Studio
I think the 80's Wackies sound is pretty gritty, could possibly be what ya after, they are currently being re-released on Basic Channel records. The Yabby You and Tubby albums, especially 'Beware' dub is good dread stuff. On a more modern tip, Twilight Circus, is pretty minimal stuff, with a heavy sound and lots of FX, certainly one of the best modern producers.
Keith Hudson's 'Brand in Dub' is very good, and melancholic.. though maybe out of print now.
