Greetings to all Swiss Massive,

maybe someone here can help out and recommend some good rootsy
reggae festivals in Switzerland?? Me and my Family have not played
in Switzerland and we would like to see what options we may have..
We are not looking for the big commercial ones, but for the smaller ,
more "underground" festivals with a kind of family/community vibe!
Could also be World Music festivals or something similar.

Give Thanx

Peace Yiannis

Hi Yiannis

A good starting point for any research on the swiss Reggae scene is
http://www.reggae.ch/
They also have a forum where you will encounter People who are actively involved in promoting events. So they will be able to tell you..

I can't name any annual reggae festivals in Switzerland from the top of my head, although there are some which have been going on for several years. My impression is that popularity of Reggae had a peak around 2003-2005 and is fading somewhat since then. But this might just be my impression since I am not involved in managing/promoting events anymore.

cheers
Daniel

I just stumbled upon a press release for the Reeds Festival. I had this in my mind but could not remember the name when writing the first post:

They have a band competition right now.. This might be just your ticket :-)

Thanks a million Daniel for helping us out here! This one seems to be a good Festival for us. The Contest is only for Swiss bands, but maybe they would book us as a regular act. We also got some good recommendations from the reggae.ch site and we ll just check everything out and apply for the shows that would suit us best! Thanks again, we 're getting closer to our vision of a show in the Schweiz :rejoice:
