Reggae drum patterns

I’m interested in learning to program drum patterns in a drum sequence, mainly the one drop and the rockers patterns. Hopefully someone out there will be able to give me some in-depth tips on these two styles.

One of the ways I find useful is to sample a loop of drums I like, play it over and then slowly replicate the pattern as it's playing.
I'm no expert.

Usually it's the hi-hat pattern that's hardest to do, subtle changes in the velocity help make it sound more authentic and finding a good sounding quantize.
I have a book called '260 Drum Machine Patterns' by Rene'-Pierre Bardet
That has a few Reggae patterns in it, in 16 step grid form.
Do people still use books, I dunno man.
It's kinda old, but you might be able to find a pdf of it on line.

Here's a basic one drop

BD-----------------X----------------------X---------X
HH----------X------------X---------------X-------------------X

And for Rockers just add a few more Bass Drums innit.
