in almost every dub song, theres some kinda sparse guitar licks usualy sounding anything but slick- but they fit with the groove so well and thats the kinda shit i wish so bad i could do...not be some slick cliched guitar player. anyone out there got any ideas? (ie basically i wanna play like bingy bunny)

Mess with the pentatonic scale and just play what you feel.

there's a Reggae Guitar instructional video with Ray Hitchins. Well, it's something I have it listed on this page , scroll down a bit there.
I have not seen the video myself so can't say anything about how good/bad it is. But it was outthere for sometime and was somewhat popular to get you started and get some idea on reggae guitar. Get some basic skills, and then for dub you may need to use only 'drop offs' of your 'skills
/respects,
/Mike Zee aka Dr ZEE

alright i have been playing dub fr bout two years now- in a local band, we do mainly "covers" ie just nick bassline and main melody from classics. so i have learnt a lot of guitar melodys from these songs- and inbetween i can jam along just fine- but i always seem to end up playing like a rock guitarist- which annoys me since i dislike most rock...
i thought maybe there was some obvious groove thing i was missing, but anyway i wrote this months ago and since then have realised im an idiot and its called the offbeat.
So the question was kind of pointless, sorry.

but seriously though, in a lot of reggae (therefor dub also) there are repeating techniques in the solo guitar for a lot of songs- for instance, playing thirds, or plucking near the bridge. also a lot of songs have the guitar playing the baSSLIne alongside the bass. any guitarists want to add to the list?
