Hi Skeeter,

Oh yes, I am making Dub with Buzz. Nice to hear there are others out there trying the same! It works (see my own tracks on http://www.mp3.com/HoesterSoundSystem).

It's hard to give special tips, because Dub with Buzz is a rather complex topic. Probably it is most helpful to get some example BMX from http://www.scene.de (TSU download area) and analyse these.

However, here some general tips:
* Use Jeskola Ninja Delay as Bypass (no dryout) and turn up the input volume to get fantastic delays.
* Deep bass is provided by a simple bass gen (for example Bass 3) linked to Geonik2pFilter with cutoff 130, >90% low reso and 0% high reso.
* Raverb on the compressed drum.

Peace,
Hoester

Free mp3 Dub downloads at:
http://www.mp3.com/HoesterSoundSystem

big up all the buzz dub cru!
nice 2 see ppl find the ninja delay useful.
i was actually the one who suggested this to oskari when he started coding buzz, was heavily into the sounds of king tubby and scientist at the time.. still am! since then other delays that have better filters have come through, fsm has some very nice delays for instance.

random tip of the day-

bass drum
use 2pole hipass filter with cutoff set to around
60-90hz.. this will cut out some of the too low
frequencies that make the amp&speakers do unnecessary work and also make the bass drum really BOOM

Hi Hoester,

I've got your source coded song Rain Dub (at scene.de ?). I've been really impressed about the sound processing you did, especially how you've created a realistic sounding bass using a technotic synthesizer and effects.
I would like to use that bass in my songs, since it's better than any bass samples I could find till now.

Dear Waiad and other Dubbers,

In my opinion, it is not only the sound of the bass, which makes it lively and colorful. Important as well is the way you play it with your synthetic generators: Try not to have it too static, make variations of the patterns with slight changes in note length and velocity, carefully use slide notes.

By the way, do you guys also have Dub bmx's or mp3's out there?

Peace,
Hoester

http://www.mp3.com/HoesterSoundSystem

Where can i download buzz? I'd never heard of it before it was mentioned on here. Does it lend itself easily to making dub?

Looter,

Buzz is not designed especially for Dub music and to be honest, it is not very easy to handle in the beginning. But you have a lot of possibilities to generate sounds (by synths, drummachines, samples ...) and to process it with different effects.
You will find the latest download of the program called "Millenium Pack" at http://www.scene.de/djlaser/news.htm
You should know, that Buzz is open to extensions, called machines, which can easily installed. You can find all of the available machines at: http://www.buzzmachines.com

Have fun,
Hoester

I have Buzz and I am wanting to learn it partly because Hoester is so enthusiastic about it! I love getting in there and trying to figure it out but you are very right in that it is hard to get a handle on at first, I say this because I still haven't figured out the sequencing........ HELP!!!!!
