Hello guys! <BR>Our crew =&#41; has a sound card which has 8 outs. We plug them mono into mixing console. The console then has a "digital out" and the sound card has a "digital in". So what do you think, if we plug console's "digital out" into "digital in" of the card, and try then simultaneously playback tracks and record the mix with the same sound card, what do you think will it blow out? Should be totally possible. <BR>If one of your digital interfaces has a better quality clock &#40;thing that controls the timing of the samples taken by the interface&#41;, you would want to, if possible slave the other's clock to the better quality one &#40;although this isn't essential&#41;. <BR>I presume both your devices have the same type of digital connection &#40;ie both s/pdif or AES or whatever&#41;.

Yes, they're both s/pdif. <BR>So for example in Cubase we put say, 5 tracks playing and the sixth recording. Right?

correct. if you dedicate 2 channels of your soundcard to the monitor outputs, you wont have an audio feedback loop. otoh if you merely disable monitoring while you record, you may dedicate all 8 outs to your mixer. but really the only reason i might do this was if i had some legacy hardware. for instance, i do it for my spring reverb. <BR> <BR>the spdif out of your mixer is an alternative to your soundcards input, which essentially will do the exact same job. what models do you have &#40;mixer and soundcard&#41;?
