Rack unit vs. Boss RE-20

Greetings all-

Just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions for rack unit tape delay emulators. I am digging on the Boss RE-20 box, but would prefer a rack unit. Anything out there come close?

I am starting to invest in some rack effects and think a funked up tape emulator / spring reverb unit is the next step.

So far I have:
lexicon mx200 delay/reverb
lexicon vortex morphing processor
korg kp3 multi effects pad

What's a good next move? Diggin the Boss RE-20 because I prefer not to mess with tape and maintenance and repair. (I'm sure some will think it's a lame excuse, but pricing for vintage gear is another issue for me)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Chad

Line 6 had a rack unit for vintage echo emulations. I once tried it out in a gig and found it very helpful. It's now discontinued but you may find one second hand:

I found a few threads on the Line 6 Echo Pro. Opinions out there seemed like a mixed bag. I'd like to hear more from those who have tweaked the unit and critiqued the unit with there ears.

Line6 echo pros seem to be going for 300 - 400 on eBay. Seems doable if it a true dubbin machine. Haven't found many vids that exhibit live tweaking like some vids for the Re-20.

Other thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Best,
Chad
