Looking for cheap spring reverbs.

Post by TUDCo » Mon Nov 19, 2012 6:33 pm

Has anyone tried The Studio 1 Reverb, its sounds pretty good on the youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppqX0kdMq6s

I've been using the Boss RE20 & the vesta spring rv1 but would like to try
some cheaper springs as they all seem to be very different.
Any other suggestions.

Thanks :-) :-)

I dont know what you consider cheap but I had some simple Aria spring reverb ( from the 90's ) a few years ago. It was a 19 inch unit and it had 2 in/outputs and some control knobs...nothing more. Didnt cost much then, around 50 euros so maybe if you look around it could be found. Sounded ok but gave it to a friend because I have 2 Furman RV-1's that sound way better.
Dont know what they do in price these days but like i said they sound Irie plus you can tweak the freq. to ajust the sound the way you like. I think they are worth the extra money instead of buying a cheap one.
But still...many ways to get a sound the way you like, cheap or expensive.

Danelectro has a new spring reverb called the spring king.
Doesnt cost much but i dont know if it's any good.

I got the Studio One spring reverb for £50 [GBP], its handmade, low noise & sounds really good, the reverb time is about 4 seconds.

I could only find 1 aria for sale & that was £270 + postage from america so i'll give that a miss.

The Danelectro has been discontinued but seems good value/sounds good
for £100 secondhand.

I'll post some mixes up using these reverbs.
Thanks for the advice.

I ordered one of the Studio One reverbs after reading this thread. £40 plus shipping. Supposed to be a really low noise floor on it. I get it in January, I'll give feedback on it.
