Basically they comes in 3 versions: short/medium/long (Delay)

Could I resolder a "short-model" into a "long-model" etc etc ?

i think the input and output impedance should match your pre and post-amplifiers. spring length should then not make a difference. i don't know much about analog electronics so i can't tell the details..

Hi,.... Accutronics Type 9 is the long 16" luxus-
tank, used in Vermona Retroverb and other serious
applications, there is 3 parallel springlines and
it is made in the 3 above mentioned variants, so
my assumption is that the diffrence might very well just be wirring soldered diffrent so that
more or less springs inserted, I have an ebay-
offer on the short-version, but don´t whant to
be stucked at short-mode, hmmmmmmm

I don´t mind impedances I will buffer pre/post,
but I need to controll the reverb size (springs)

ah, now i understand the question.. but i don't know the answer. how would you want to change the delay length by soldering? cutting part of the spring away and re-attach the rest? that should result in more tension, thus higher sound and shorter reverb.
does anyone produce a tunable reverb tank? i never heard of something like that altough it's an obvious idea.

I just assume that as we deal with mass-production
all tre models are boiled up on same bone, just by
"parralelling and serialling" the 3 lines diffrent
makes the delay diffrent, so if I knew the trick I
could turn a given model into one of the two other

Its a matrix, you could parralel the two first to
put the last in serial etc etc all would give a diffrent delay time, so the springs should not be
touched, only the internal wirring between them

I talk electrically, not mechanically, but I need
to know iff there is individual transducers on
each spring, if not I speak nonsens :-),....

btw. you could tweak a spring-system mechannical
also, string up the springs with harder tension
and watch delays tighting up also, and maybe its
what goes on in these type 9 series, dont know,

btw I often wondered about "modulating" springs
with induction/magnetism or even with a little
speaker on the middle,... a vocoder,... ??????

But I have not time for these experiments grrrrr

Thanks for trying to understand my obscure mind

HeHe,... Mike your not so wrong,... actually its
already done, its just with a piano,. translated
into a VSTe-algoritm, the name is "pianoverb" it
is both usefull and overlooked, you must imagine
a upright piano-frame used as a spring-tank (PSP)

HM, I have here type 9 tank, btw... studio page here . Mine came from Mesa Boogie Nomad 45 Head. I could make some as close as my camera lets photo(s) of inside if you may need it...hmmmm? Electronically there's not much going on there ..hehe Mechanically it's beautiful! what else? I don't know.... let me know.

/Mike Zee aka Dr ZEE
ZDL
