BOSS GT-6 >>>15 KNOBS!!!!!

Post by Mike Zee » Sat Aug 11, 2001 9:23 pm

hi, guys,

i am not sure how new this is, but I saw for the first time. BOSS GT-6. Looks very good to me. If you play guitars using floor digital pedals, then you know what it means to have 15!!!!! knobs for tweekin'. One of the reason I often can't get something what I may have in mind with guitars is because I am just getting tired of pushing tiny buttons, scrolling through parameters etc. Also I was thinking of some extra possibilities with knobs if using guitar processor for what ever 'crazy ideas' to mess with sounds while dub-mixing or recording, knobs are something I always wish to have.

anyhow,
here's the link to GT-6 if you wish to check out.
I have no idea how it is really, it's 24bit, well, boss pedals are pretty good in general.
If anybody get GT-6, or any experience or info, please let us know here...
I may think now of getting one...

best regards,

/Mike Zee

Never mind the new boss digital pedals , the ME 10 is the one to look out for , it was the last analogue multi fx boss put out , they were going for knockdown end of range prices a few years ago , really good quality , easy to pick up second hand.

Yep Mike.

I just bought one. It kicks arse. I plug it into the return channel of my Marshall stack - hence bypassing the preamp - no need for it since the GT-6 emulates 30 odd preamps anyway. I used it to replace my frankenstein collection of pedals - too many things to go wrong - particularly when I'm doing regular gigs. The thing though that I really miss is the instant access to knobs on the pedals. Yes the GT-6 has knobs left, right and centre (well actually mainly left), but they are digital - not analogue controls and if you make a change to a patch halfway through a song by adjusting a knob, you best remember to press exit or save your change otherwise you wont be able to change patches. Yep, that sort of sucks. So you just have to make changes between songs. Also, the knobs only give you access to rudimentary settings - like gain, drive and level. You still have to go scrolling through parameters to really tune the machine - e.g, setting the bass, mid, and treble of your distortion effect.
Nevertheless, it is an awesome machine that you drive a little differently to your traditional pedals. I now have some killer patches and the GT-6 has opened up so many styles of sound for me that I didn't have before. I can now go from clean, to slight crunch, to blues crunch, to distortion, to heavy distortion, to metal and beyond as needed. I can change amps it the press of a pedal, I can play an acoustic guitar without even putting down my electric. I can also drop to e-flat tuning without touching a nut.

If you haven't already bought it Mike, do it - you wont regret it.

BTW - go to www.ruckus.com.au to see my band site.

Regards

Ashley Strahle
Australia

if you need a crazy fx for what ever 'crazy ideas' to mess with sounds while dub-mixing or recording ,wait for the new korg kaoss pad 2.no knob to twist but a pad with midi out and IN so what ever crazy effect you done in real time you don t loose it cos midi rec within your sequencer.kaoss 1 did not have the midi in but 2 will have.wait untill june or jully . http://messe.harmony-central.com/Musikm ... -2.html audioforge

i have the gt-6 for bass and i like it so far. i really need some help though figuring out the shaping for that characteristic drum & bass sound where the bottom drops out of the note played and sinks to a lower pitch. i've tried using pitch shift manipulation but i can't quite get it smooth enough. any help, info, or some links would be awesome.
