Sound design for soundsystem

I’ve been programming dry dubplate riddims for a while now on an ableton demo. Musically , they are ok but still missing depth and feel. They are very much tin pan in comparison to this kind of sound:

Would sounds like this be programmed . They really sound too tight to be played in.
I’ve heard delays, tubes, valves, gates mentioned when it comes to sound system production. It’s that “feel” and “moving” vibe I can’t seem to replicate.

Thank you for all the great information.

Building a language for what you want will certainly help. Beyond “‘moving”, what aspects of other work do you want to incorporate into yours?

Language "speaks" the man. I suppose its like a builder blaming his tools. Good sound is good sound.
