Why dont you just find some samples of a siren? I havent found any ones suitable for looping yet myself but theres prolly some around someplace. maybe you dont use any samples. id try to find an old police car siren somewhere. ebay has all kinds of crazy shit. Bill Laswell has some great euro-siren samples that he uses on the Marley remix disc.

The exact link for the Jah Tubbys site is
http://www.jts-uk.com/pages/preamps.htm

They have a different sample file on that page. Although it comes from the same device the file at
http://freespace.virgin.net/russell.bel ... s1c.htm sounds far better.. obviously because of the delay they use on it!

I had a look at different dj samplers (loopers) recently. My impression is that the yamaha SU10 serves a reggae soundsystems needs best (If you can cope with the "consumer-grade" plastic case). It does not have a lot of looping capabilities, but it's cheaper than most other products and has more pads for directly triggering the samples. Such a sampler will never beat a dedicated analog siren like the one at jah tubbys in terms of control over the siren sound but you'll have the possibility to use completely different sounds too (voice samples..)

That radio shack siren is an interesting prospect. Does anyone know how easy it would be to remove the speaker from it and create a line-level output? Educated guess maybe?

peace,
Looter
