Hoester Sound System - Lost in Dub

Post by Hoester » Sat Dec 29, 2001 8:00 pm

Late in year 2001, Hoester Sound System has just released another Dub Reggae song:

'Lost In Dub' is a hypnotic Dub instrumental with acoustic and synthetic instruments in harmony. The guitar is played by myself. If somebody thinks to be able to play the melody line with melodica or so, I will be happy to make another version. If ever feeling lost, there is still hope ...

Free & legal mp3 streaming at:
mp3.com song page

(Note: If possible try "hifi" streaming. Caused by a strange stereo effect the melody line almost disappears at "lofi". Download will be available
soon at Hoester Sound System on digitalsounds.de)

A happy and peaceful new year for all of you,
Hoester

www.hoester.com
www.mp3.com/HoesterSoundSystem

I like it. Bass done really well. Drums are 'into your face'-drum-machine type , some guys may not like it, i guess, but I dig it. Muted guitar is excellent, goes really well with the rest of the groove. I like stereo-field using in the mix.
Now about that synth lead. I think it's fine, but at some point I got the feelling that something different could be there, or even 'no-lead' at all..., I am not sure really about it. Maybe it's tooo 'sharp-sounding' sort of speak..., or maybe it's because it is brass-type of synth, and when you use it for dubs/reggae, then it often creates that feeling of: "I wish to hear REAL brass here, istead of synth", you know..., well, maybe it's ok, it's hard to say..thou., If I was making this mix I may try to use something softer/smoother and see if it works out "better", you see, "better"-is something you really never know, often the very original version is the best.

well, man, just a few words here,

good track,
drop a note if you really get some 'takers' to play some leads for you there and you have another version, would be interesting to listen.

respects,

/Mike Zee
ZEE DUB LAB

Hoester Sound System - Lost in Dub

Thanks for your review, Mike.

I tried to play the lead melody with my old accordeon, which gave a very good sound. But unfortunately some notes of the accordeon are that much detuned, that I could not use it for the track.

Respect,
Hoester

Hoester,
aso I hope you don't take my notes as negative..., it's just a thoughts to keep you company, sort of speak ;)...
Hehhh, old accordeon could be VERY cool, actually even if it is a bit out of tune, well, i guess it depends on how bad out of tune ...., then again, you can play it/record...and guess what?? , dub-out "bad" notes/parts ...he he....

oh well, man,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

best wishes,
and respects,

/Mike Zee
