Hoester Sound System - Shocking the Clockwork

Post by Hoester » Tue Jan 29, 2002 5:28 pm

Yet another release by Hoester Sound System: 'Shocking the Clockwork' is a massive instrumental, which comes in a long Dub version. Horns, clavinet and organ in hard delay, always guided by mighty drum and bass. Close to he Roots, but also somehow funky.

Hear it on mp3.com:
Shocking the Clockwork Long Dub

Peace,
Hoester
www.hoester.com

wow, Hoester, this is VERY lovely sharp DUB sooooo much goodness in it to my ear. Very cool idea about CLOCK, and actually the track has that clock-ish mood and "character". I love these "deaf"-snare hits/delays (well, hope you know which I am talking about,,,). Guitar 'mutes' are funkey, sort of speak. Congrats on this one.
Guys, check it out, well, it's good if you have fast connection to stream hi-fi.

later,

respects,

/Mike Zee
zee dub lab

Hoester Sound System - Shocking the Clockwork

Actually, the song was already finished when I started to think about a title. You sometimes start with a musical idea, then you give it a name and somehow it sounds as if you had nothing else in mind than to write a song around the title. Strange, isn't it?

However, thanks for the review, Mike, you are going to become my favourite reviewer - I do not pay him by the way ;). I think I know what you mean by those deaf snare hits. Actually this is not intended, but very often I just end up at this point after mixing. The guitars in fact aren't guitars but clavinet sounds in this track.

By the way, I listened to this song very load many many times using my headphones and I always felt that someone was speaking to me from the left side. (For sure you know that feeling when you are alone with your headphones on and suddently you feel disturbed.) The strange thing is that there really is not any voice in the song. Someone else discovered this phenomenon?

Hoester

he he, well, then, it's funky clavinet , really sounding and 'played' like guitar...
...also, 'deaf snare' it's just something i've made up to 'name' snare sounds which are sort of "filtered out" - no hi(s), apposite to bright snare, sort of speak...
Don't know about 'voices in ma'head' , ,... it happens to me too

later,
respects

/Mike Zee
