New Dub, the first dub posted by me on this site

Post by netlas » Wed Jun 19, 2013 8:02 pm

So here it is, my first dub that I post on this site.

I am solo "artist" and the gear I use is hardware samplers.

This particulary tune is made only with the Roland S-550 sampler. 12-bit gritt.

Mixer: Tascam M-224
Outboard Efx: Ibanez DM100 delay and Fostex 3180 Spring reverb.

Recorded direct to my Akai CS-702DII tapedeck and from the tape to Audacity.

Sequenced on a old Win98 PC with Cubase VST 5.0 (a pretty pretty old Cubase)

Hope you enjoy!

Pretty cool vibe man !
I like the sounds of the drum and the effects.
It needs some guitar I think, and more programmation(hhats, better breaks).
Big up from France.

I agree with the above poster.. Nice sound timbres and effects. I also like the fact that you dare muting the drums completely and let the echo run alone for a while.
Something about the timing seems odd to me though. The drums seem to be either lagging or pushing all the time and during some of the breaks the beat seems to fall apart completely before coming back again. I think the rhythm framework is not stable enough (buzzword: micro timing) which causes an uneasy feel.
I hope this helps! Keep on dubbing, you are on the right path
