Nice! What's the deal with LP? I mean what's the story, how did you 'close the deal'... - VERY cool!
I personally very tired of boom-whopin' electric bass sounds. I don't know what happened to me, but only can sort of musicly appreciate a nice more natural sine-like bass, something close to a bass-guitar string. And so ... EYES DUB is a winner... exellent! Not just for bass, but for the whole variety of reasons.
As for the rhetoric.... arghhhh, .... just shut up already ...., heh heh
yeah, well... tradition???? not really...., just lazyness of mind in my view.... keep spitting out old baseless cliches over and over again. Plain boring. But in reggae/dub there is nothing else to 'sing about'... you know.

/respects

/Mike Zee aka Dr ZEE

About the Vinyl: It's just a 7-Inch single with two tracks not an LP. Andrew the singer went home to Jamaica and made a production/distribution deal with Sonic Sounds.
In fact the bassline on "Open your Eyes" and the dub was played by Andrew himself on a real bass. I did some cut&paste clean-up work on the hard-disk recording system after he played the bass to kick out a few occasional sloppy notes.
The bass on "jah is my strength" is derived from the typical mid-eighties square-wave basses (same as the original tempo riddim).
I tried to give the riddim a new twist by fusing it with niabinghi style hand drums and using handclaps instead of a snare drum.

ahhh, so that bass was actually your baby-creation from your synthetic bio-lab heh,
the sound is cool...I am not really sure where the hell I was 'leadin' with my comment... it has nothing to do with your track objectivelly speakin'... it's just my current mind-set ..or what ever the heck is going through my brains. I guess I am just in general more and more sort of naturally moving away from 'sound-design' and more into 'traditional composing/playing', and there you simply ending up trying to avoid more-complex and less controlable bass sounds... simply because harmonics of low-end is a monster itself...

anyhow.... cool! You've got some of your creations on plastic! Did you at least get a copy of the record? It's just so cool to hear your own production playing on turn-table ..

/respects,
/Mike Zee aka Dr ZEE

i also noticed recently that the music i actually listen to for my own enjoyment is mostly "hand-played" and not "programmed" music. So sometimes I feel that I should put more effort in learning to play an instrument and less into recording technology and electronic music..
i'm actually thinking about picking up the guitar now. let's see..

yeah i got a copy of the vinyl myself, feels nice

i'm actually thinking about picking up the guitar now
DO IT! even if it may not make much sense ... do it anyway ..heh heh
i actually listen to for my own enjoyment is mostly "hand-played" and not "programmed" music
that's it!, Daniel... that's exactly what I was experiencing for some time... and realizing it did not let me sleep well..sort of speak, it was bugging my mind.... question why? And I don't know why. Maybe because you do it yourself for so long lime, and nothing exites you anymore. More to that, when you hear some very sophisticated and creative synthesized/programed production, you get sort of opposite reaction, saying: "So what, just a very skillful and creative usage of technology... nothing more to that." ... that's a very sad feeling, in a sense. If you never produce music yourself, then you maybe still enjoy everything you hear very much ...
I guess, it may be compared with playing chess with computer or playing against another chess player... heh heh To beat The Computer, you must be a very good player, but What's exiting in such victory? Good question?

well, I don't know... it's all blah... stuff,

later, man
/respects
/Mike Zee aka Dr ZEE
