Nice reference site on vintage tape delays

Post by ESTECHO » Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:47 pm

I just recently joined this board, and thought I'd share a bit of info about my tape delay web site. It has lots of information about more than 20 tape delays of all types (free-running tape, tension tape loop, 8-track cartridge, Sony RE cartridge, magnetic disc, etc.)

So far, I've included specifications, as well as repair and maintenance info, for the following models, which I own personally:

- Mirano echo chamber 3
- Mirano T-4
- Iwase Voice Echo Machine
- Binson EC 3
- Denon Dic EM-1000
- Hawk 2-channel Echo HE-2250
- Evans SE-780 / Multivox MX-312
- Evans ES-5
- Evans EE-3
- Ace Tone EC-20
- Ace Tone Pro Echo EC-10
- Elk EM-4
- Elk Echo Machine
- Guyatone EM-77
- Guyatone EM-606
- Guyatone EM-808D
- Guyatone EM-88
- Melos / Univox EM-200
- Kastam SS-102
- Kastam Concert SS-100
- Roland Space Echo RE-100
- Roland Space Echo RE-200

...and I have a few more in my studio, waiting for their time in the spotlight!

You can check them out here:

I've also made a dedicated page about tape delay cartridge formats, such as the Sony RE-4,5,6 cartridges and the infamous Apollon/Dictaphone cassette used in the Univox EC-80A. You can check it out here:

I'm trying to build a rich, free resource of online material related to tape delays, and I'm sure many of you here will find it useful and/or interesting.

Thanks for sharing! What a beautiful collection..

I noticed that the image link for the Evans ES-5 is not working. The URL says SE-5 instead of ES-5.
