Daniel, if you mean just to pick some out from what ever , including commercially relesed?

Not sure if this would make 'essential', but this track is just my favorite, also the one which maybe never become 'borring' for me, and it's a track wich turn my personal interest ON into making dub music.
It is: "Mystic" by "The Revolutionary Dub Warriors" from "Reaction Dub Part 1: Deliverance" album.
The bass move in this track is just 'genius' to my ears, and all other elements. It's just plain KOOL..., ;) The thing is, well, it's just like about dub music in general, you have to listen to it on good system and best quality of recording to really appreciate it..., you know, to pick something up, which also will sound interesting/attractive, involving as some streming format, for listener who sort of new to dub music...this may be a some hard task to acomplish.

be-well,

best regards,

/Mike Zee
/zee dub lab melat door dub
audiogalaxy.com/bands/mikezee

Hey all,

I always say you gots to get a couple of LSP produced killers down there if you are going to turn someone on to dub....

Songs like
"Silver Locks" (or any of the curley riddim)
"Roots Train #1" w/dillinger
"Foundation Solid" by the congos

Also "Emmanuale" by Dub Syndicate is the first "modern" dub style song to blow my ears off.. I always put that song at the end of mix tapes for people... Great first dub tune..

peace
matto (aka Holy Ghost)
Unity Soundsystem, Queens

Justice to the people verse 2-(Lee Perry produced)

Dr Alimantado-Best Dressed Chicken/
I Shot the Barber

I second the Congos reccomendation as well. The ones mentioned above seemed to transcend the genre
the first time I heard them. Those were the ones that turned me on to a full time listener and enthusiast. "I man Free" by Watty Burnette and the "Justice" track are great LSP tracks that take the snippet of the first lyric of each verse and let's em echo and fade.

i suppose these aren't stricty dub tracks but...
"Bird In Hand" by The Upsetters, an amazing song. it puts any "trip-hop" song to shame!! probably my favorite Lee $cratch Perry production.
"No Peace" and "Life Is Not Easy" by The Meditations,
"Dont Blame On I" and "Congoman" by The Congoes ,
"To Be A Lover" by George Faith
or any Black Ark era or prior Lee $cratch Perry or King Tubby from the 70's.
but if i was going to let some one hear a dub track the one i picked would depend on the type of music they were into.

Hello

Recommended dub tracks????

Lee scratch perry - Pretty much every track on reel two of the arkology and a few tracks off reel 1 and 3.

King Tubby - sooo many killer tracks!!!!
hmm... King tubby meets rockers up town. A must!
Some of the King tubby meets rockers inna fire house tracks are superb (track names alude me at the moment). King tubby mixed heaps of albums where his name isn't necessary on the front but if you look at the liner notes you will find him credited.

Also check Keith Hudson - Pick A Dub. Some of my favourite tracks are on this album, such as Black Right, Dubwise part one and two. i think
this album is also mixed by King tubby but i'm not sure (if anyone has any information on this it would be appreciated).

Prince far I has some A grade material, dub or otherwise - Put down your gun, What you gonna do on the judgement day, psalm 24, dub encounter, head of the buccaneer.

Also check the yabby u releases on blood and fire. Actually pretty much any release on blood and fire is worth buying.

As you can see i am a sucker for the old roots tracks.

cheers

he he,
yeah, well, guys, here's how i tink'bout it ;):
thre are:
classic(s)
essential(s)
recommendation(s)
favorit(s)

and...
and, tracks which YOU actually listen yourself allot and really like (love).

all these categories maybe sort of confused and mixed-up when the question is about "THE BEST"

i hope, i make any sense here, you know.

so, it's like very common thing. When ever people speak out "publicly", and the question is: "what do you think is a "best of the best"..., the answer very often falls into 'classic' area., somewhere there, where you sort of can't miss the "target", you know what I mean. Another words, if the question is: "who's the best music creator ever"..., and you say , let's see..., hmmm, Bethoven..., so you like at least safe, sort of speak..., even thou the music of Bethoven really goes over your head and make you snore..,

well, i am half serious here, guys, cos I don't know really why is it this way ...
Nor, I dear would say anything strongly. But truth is, that I have a bancha of Perry's stuff, and was spinning it for some time, liked it for the most, and sure it is very interesting (but for me it's like from mostly historical point of view). So, it's like "Romeo and Juliete"..., sure is a must to read, if you are into literatura, but is it something you really think/or feel is absolute TOP...? I don't know.
blah blah,
the buttom line is, what I am trying to say:
I Love Classic Cars allot, but it's not what I am driving..., Ya'know ;)

pure respects to all,

'n regards,

/Mike Zee
