Cleaning old taperecorders??

Post by Andy hindersson » Wed Nov 30, 2005 10:02 pm

Hi!

I´m new here and need some of your great knowledge! I want a 4 track recorder. First I found a yamaha MT400 for 150€, then a tascam us-122 to connect with my computer for the same money. But after some thougth I came to what I want is an analog taperecorder..simple and cheap. Then I found a Tascam 244 for 50€. What I can read on the net is that they are not working well or the "head" needs to be renewed. Is it easy to do? what does it cost? what are your experiences? I just love the looks of that 244!

I appreciate any thoughts! Thank you

Get the 244. If one of these units has problems, 90% of the time it's just a worn belt that needs to be replaced. The heads should still have some life in them if they've been properly maintained.
