i am a bit surprised you want to make this your "holy grail" based on the title alone &#40;especially with THIS title..&#41; but here is what i found: <BR> <BR>according to David Toop from "The Wire" Keith Hudson's track Satan Side is <BR>"..one of the strangest, spookiest records ever made, dub or otherwise." <BR> <BR>from a <A HREF="http://www.reggae-reviews.com/keithhuds ... >review</A> of Studio Kinda Cloudy &#40;Trojan&#41;: <BR>"an ultra-funky bass and horn groove &#40;the horn reminiscent of The Wailers' Get Up, Stand Up&#41;" <BR> <BR>- hear a sample at <A HREF="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... >amazon</A> <BR> <BR>can also be found on the nice price sampler <A HREF="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/regga ... prising</A> from Music Club <BR> <BR>- recorded in 1972 <BR>- appeared in different versions for example as "True True To My Heart" or "Peter And Judas" by Earl Flute & Horace Andy on the Trojan <A HREF="http://www.reggae-vibes.com/rev_var/raregroo.htm"> rare groove box set</A>

I think everybody would agree that Keith Hudson's album "Pick A Dub" is one of the great early classics. Very spooky and every bit as good as Tubby and Scratch, etc. Available on CD on Blood&Fire label. A must.

The album Brand is my favourite of all time. I think this is a pretty strong recommendation of Keith Hudson's genius, being that it is ranked above the likes of King Tubby meets the Rockers Uptown or any Scientist, King Tubby or Lee Perry albums also check out the Vocal album "Rasta Communication" so many of Hudson's &#40; a former dentist &#41; songs are overlapping in style/sentiment/tone/bass line/harmonic content/lyrics/vocals that it all becomes one huge, long lasting stream of constant pleasure spanning 2hrs and ninteen minutes.......ahhhhh....

Yeah, interesting that you would pick this track, cuz it is wicked by all stretches of the imagination. As a matter of fact, the stripped down base line sounds like it comes from a rootical-vampirish take off of "get up stand up", at least for the break... check out the album on Trojan, compiled by Steve Barrow of Blood and Fire records. Nice stuff...

Also worth looking for by Keith Hudson is a 7" called the The Longest Night which is even spookier, and considerably more hard to find. Holy Grail fe true
