Need Help Creating This Synth Sound!

Post by ukdubkid » Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:29 pm

Hi,

Im trying to make this kinda filtered lead sound :?

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=b8KDwAeQ6YQ

Starts at about 5 seconds sounds like its filtered but im not sure how if that makes sense...

Ive got loads of virtual synth plugins all the NI stuff.. the only hardware synth i got is a microkorg im looking to buy a CS01 and im running Logic Pro 8 on a mac pro.

Thanks :)

Hello,

I'm not sure what sound you are meaning.
Do you mean the high r&b type lead sound?

First of all, that's a wicked video indeed :-)

The basic sound of that synthline is a highpitched sine oscillator played on a synth in monomode with some portamento. I tried to emulate it with the free synth "synth1". I added a second oscillator one octave lower playing a triangle wave. Finally a simple delay on top adds dub flavour.
The original sound seems to modulate somehow - It does not sound the same all the time. I cannot hear how that is done though..

See the screenshot below for the setting on synth1 and hear the sound snippet of me playing the line.

I realize that synth1 cannot be used on the mac. But the sound is so basic that it can be done on most analog synth emulations.
