I know I haven't been an active poster here since I joined. But I have
been visiting from time to time just to read about the thoughts of others.
I finally started producing Roots and Dub myself so I finally feel like I
have something to contribute with on this forum.

1 month ago I released my album "Foona's InI sound" as a free download
on a Swedish Reggae blog called "Rebelmusic.se". The album contains 15
tracks of Roots and Dub music. I really hope you'll enjoy the release.

The album has been packed with Winrar.

I also have my own blog (English language). I am using this blog To write
about my upcoming musical “stuffs” as events, gigs collabs etc. Also I
write about DIY equipment that I have built. Right now there are two posts
concerning my DIY spring tank and my “Dubmasta” DIY Midi controller.

About the "Dubmasta" mixer.
I didn't have the economy for purchasing a large
old fashioned mixing desk, I wanted to build one.
But again due to economy, I couldn't afford the parts
for such a large scale analogue project. So i had to
come up with something else. The result is the "Dubmasta".

The “Dubmasta” is a project based on the "MidiBox64".
All necessary blueprints and info how to build one can be
found at "Ucapps.de". For technical support there is a forum
called the Midibox forum. This is a forum filled with members
that are willing to help people building their own Midibox
gear. I’ve also built a SID-synthesizer based on the
"MidiboxSIDv2", witch can be found on the Ucapps site.
Though for electronic noobs I do recommend building something
less complicated as your first project. Like the analogue
Weird Sound Generator from MFOS (Music From Outer Space).
Or the Interruptor dub siren.

The "Dubmasta"
Old school sloapig case design made out of oak wood.
Stained with plain brown staining and then clear coated.


Im telling you, this beast wasn't made for easy dusting haha.
As you can see it's pretty much laid out as a mixing desk.


25 faders - Volume
1 fader for each channel on my virtual mixer + 1 fader dedicated for main mix/volume


24 rotary pots - Pan
1 panning pot for each channel on my virtual mixer


8 rotary pots - Fx
These are dedicated for Fx remote, like tweaking reverbs or dub delays etc etc..


Yes, the rotary pots are space to close together.
I'll build a new case when it's time for it, and when i have the dough for it.
Also if i feel it's absolutely necessary of course.

I feel like taking a bite out of it..


Main power panel.
Simple switch and a DIN-5 connector.


Main Midi in and outs, from the core.
And the LTC MIDI connnectors and LED's.


Im very satisfied with the "Stryper-looking" cable.
Goes together well with the box and PSU.


However i need to point out, yhe "Dubmasta" is still in a
half working state.


The PSU case is made out of oak wood and stained in plain brown stain.
Just like the case for the DubMasta.


Now i did not design this PSU case myself, a carpenter friend did that.
I only provided him with the measurements.
I told him to put some cutted tracks in it, but did not specify how many or where.
So this is what he did, and im so pleased i let him design it himself.


Yup, that's just beautyfull.


And here they are together in harmony...half finished harmony.


There are also 41 push buttons on the box, together with 24 LED's.
(27 counting the 2 LTC LED's on the back. + plus the RED power LED in the upper right corner of the box)

These are not functionall at the moment.
The functions where supposed to be like this.

25 buttons - Mute
1 mute button for each channel on my virtual mixer


25 LED's - Mute indicators
LED's dedicated to indicate muted or unmuted channel.
Also collor scheme from the left to the right.
8 GREEN - 8 YELLOW - 8 RED - 1 YELLOW

16 buttons - Triggers
These where meant to be used as triggers, for stuff like FX on/off.
One shot samples, drummachine etc etc..

Iv'e installed 1 banckstick in there, cuz i have no need for more.
Im using no menu buttons (DIN's don't work anyway haha).
I just needed to set all the CC#'s once and then always use that setup.
This is how i work.

I use this Dubmasta midi kontroller together with mixing software.
I then route signals out from my DAW to external analouge stuff
like delays etc etc. And then I just Dub it!!

so it's like a "super" midi controller; very interesting project, you must have passed many hours to build this!
"when you don't find something, and this,for many reasons; just build it!" that's one of the crucial basics of life!
you did a very good job and with a nice looking, but you have to finish it bro! triggers and mutes are important!
keep this way and in closed times you 'll able to build some madness dubmachines!!

The Dubmaster took a looong time to build.
The actuall time in hours to finish this project
are about 100 hours. But it took over 8 months
from the moment i started the build. And some
parts took over 6 months to reach me. Crazy
shipping times.

I will finish the box...som day.

It has been invaluable to me both in the studio
and when performing live.
