I've recently introduced a few people to dub with Scientist Rids the World... they bought it the next day. Some others I suggest are Prince Far I "Dub to Africa" (especially the song "Internal Dub"... beautiful!), & the Upsetters "Super Ape." All these may be a bit played out, but the idea is to introduce newbies. Then, you can crack their skull wide open with deeper shit.
thanks!

I'm probably relatively new to dub myself compared to some of you. I personally got hooked on dub listening to Augustus Pablo, especially his dubs of Jacob Miller tracks.

I guess king tubby is quite a good introduction, too. Most of my friends seem to like it.

I know some of you have suggested newer, more modern stuff but it's the older stuff that really chills me out, Lee perry, Prince Far-I, Israel Vibrations.

Happy dubbing

The first time I heard DUB was at a club in Birmingham nearly 10 years ago, totally unexpected, back then could only describe it as Bob Marley on acid. First Album I got was 'Revolution Dub' by L.Perry, still one of my favourites. Keith Hudson (Brand, Pickadub) plus the Yabby You 'Beware Dub', the list is too long.
On a new tip, the Rythm & Sound comp is excellent, plus Aba-Shanti is a must at the Notting Hill carnival, inspirational!

I like the Lee "Scratch" Perry dub compilation album, "Upsetter in Dub." That album is on Heartbeat. Another good album is Horace Andy's "In the Light/In the Light Dub" on Blood and Fire. The vocal album and the versions on one CD!

try travelling with king tubby to scientist to pole and back to prince far i.
and then start over again with making your own little noise with a comb for example and now in this mind state the dub is open.

Some great tracks to introduce people to reggae are:

Lee Perry - Money dub
Keith Hudson - I'm allright (my favorite), Michael Talbot Affair.
Scientist - Dance of the vampires, The Mummy's shroud (GTA 3 soundtrack), Seconds away.
Also Augustus pablo is a nice introduction but he's not only doing dubs.

Also for new dub I recommend everyone to listen to Sub Oslo. Great live dub band from Texas.

anything by sounds from the ground if they like ambient techno

stuff that is not stricty reggae or dub, but has deffinate dub roots - "wild dub" by generation x (bill idol's old punk band), "battle" by blur, w.s.d. by suede (err, london suede to us yanks), and of course any adrian sherwood/on-u stuff.

and, of corse, the reggae stuff...
king tubby meets rockers uptown, any king tubby, augustus pablo, lee "scratch" perry (black ark in dub), scientist, mad professor, linton kwesi johnson... you know how the list goes

It just has to be any King Tubby song...Augustus, Lee Perry and the often over looked Keith Hudson are all you need in Dub
