Is this Bass too Heavy ?

Post by Hoester » Mon Jul 01, 2002 8:42 pm

Dear Dub community!

Currently I have some serious problems with my computer, so sorry in advance for not responding immediately. Anyway, I am still creating further dubs and riddims on a low production level. One extract of these riddims - workname "Keep the Secret" - you find as variable bitrate mp3 here:
Hoester Sound System - Dubplate: Keep the Secret

Listening to it again and again I wonder if the bass could be too heavy. I do not know if this is even possible, but it is too low for my headphones and nearly blows my cheap desktop speakers. So I ask you: IS THIS BASS TOO HEAVY? Of course any other comments are appreciated as well.

Respect,
Hoester

I listen to your song again and I heard that the bass was way to heavy! Must have been something wrong with my speakers.

/Blue eye

just listened and to me it's not too heavy.

Did you change something about this sample since your post? It seems to be only about 1 second long!

kind of confusing file... or maybe it's just my WM-player is freaked out. I am here with XP and still trying to configure stuff around....
anyhow. The mp3-clip has info 446 bitrate, and length 12 ces, but it plays actually 36 sec or so, progression bar hits the end, but it keeps playing and time is tikin' .... what ever.
It sounds great thou. No the bass isn't too heavy at all. Actually VERY nice one to my ears.
Great reggae 'cut' for dub ....

later,

respects,

/Mike Zee

Thanks all for your comments!

After all I think I basicly will leave the bass sound as heavy as it is. At the moment I am not devoloping the track further because my computer went crazy. I will try to do 'format c:' probably next week and start again with a blank harddisk.

Interruptor and Mike: Indeed it is a *strange* mp3, because it is encoded with 'variable bitrate' with maximum: The maximum bitrate of 256kbps is only applied when necessary, otherwise the compression is higher (means bitrate lower). No problem with winamp (v1.8x), you will see the bitrate jumping during the 36 second playback.

Thanks,
Hoester
