Yeah, speakin' of S&R. I absolutely LOVE 2001 release "Sly & Robbie In Good Company" compilation. It's a really very very very well produced album from audio through package..., it's a collectable, sort of speak... ;). I would not call this one as 'essential' as DUB, thou... But it's like "a must have" for your reggae general collection for sure.

..also, I just have to add here, well, just by the way. I've got that "sly and robbie drum & bass strip to the bone by howie b", and man, this one just totally did not go through my bone...., I don't know, but maybe with couple exception here and there through the tracks... it's just plain borring. maybe I just did not get it, or something .., don't know. But it's the one I would not recommend at all..., for anything.

respects,

/mike zee

possibly this will provoke some boos, but what about some Suicide? i heard "Rocket USA" and "Harlem" before i heard Scratch Perry, and there is no denying that the dub approach is evident, even if these are not dub tracks. they're great songs, spare and full in the way all good dub is. so there.

Feel I: Dub World is the Web of Indra. Every part is important. I cyan't name One or Two songs/cuts, if sumone wants to know what is it, the meaning, the history, the feeling, then it takes Years. Maybe U know a few tracks only, but you still need years to understand background culture, the roots...

If you want to discover Dub, check every sound, space, vibe around you, then comes delay, bass, heartbeat, God.

Here in Budapest WE are rebel crew. Check albums:

Naga - Styledrop (chi001)
V.A. -Dub Local

These are connected with Dub, but of course they have new directions like breakbeat (nu skul, drum n bass, even techno), tribal riddims, ancient samples and less live instruments.

Don't stuck in one era. Open your ears. Your Mind. I say New Vibes are coming.

MMMMAAAAXXXXX respect to that site - amazing.

Jah Love

Alright, nice site rasta ....let me put in my two dubs to it.

I'd have to say, since i'm a big fan of "live" instrument dub these are 2 of my favorite classic albums in my collection:

Aswad: "A New Chapter of Dub" ( a classic)82' release. Theres something about this album that pulls me in. Check it out. There is some cool melodies going on in it.

Ras Michaels & Sons of Negus: "Rastafari Dub"- this album is GREAT! Released in 1972 Ras Michaels put this album together and Peter Tosh (guitar) and Robbie Shakespere (bass)had guest appearences on it. Though it's basically an EP, it's definetly worth the price of whatever you pay for it.This one is a must have.

Both of these albums contain great groove oriented tracks and quite a few of them are funky.Check them out, you won't be disappointed.

To He, Royal Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie, I Jah Rastafari.

Peace and One Love to All...

Jahfari Dread
