since smokin sensi is alot like reverting back to childhood, you got to think backwards when playing dub, 'cause infact, dub always comes out better when you're high. wheni mean backwards i mean, the guitar and piano is actually the percussion, and the drums is the melody. the bass is the happy medium in between!!!!

Hey, guys, with all DO RESPECTS , and I personally am sort of free-mind when it comes to the issue of smokin'. But would you, please, cut it out! Cut out all these absolute nonsensical and totally un-related smokin' and being hi factors.
When you 're hi - everything is 'better', regardlessly... even your ugly and fat cat, seating in the dusty corner of your 'production lab', may look like a slim and athletic LION

Yeah, I know. It's non-O-ma-business.
Reality is: if you can't play - you can't play.
If you can't produce dubs - you just can't.
You can smoke your brains out of your skull... it will not do a thing.

Well said from all the guys who tell them bb-sound boy that smokin' ain't the way of doing good dub music... i quit smokin' for a long time now and my music has never sounds so good... but back to the guitar skank topics :
I used sampler (reason Reddrum) mixed or alternated with the piano like a lot of all you said, then choose the right effects (do no need to do too much) and mix it the right way in the whole mix...
I play the bass and programm the drums sequences, but I'm little short with skank chord sample sounds(after 50 songs it begins to sounds a little bit the same all the time), please sends me some if you got some... for the creativity and for the goodness of the people thanks...

And stop talking shit about smokin' and music !

Questionn: WHAT IS DUB MUSIC FOR YOU?
Some people smoke and get high and that's it, it is then simply a carnal pleasure. Some other people smoke and go to a higher level, they get to rediscover themselves, other perspectives appear. I believe that all those who have been criticizing it have simply never been further the first stage. This is only when it becomes interesting. Music is Art and Art means expressing your inner feelings. Now why some people just cannot go further the first stage and attain that spiritual maturite. i dunno. Maybe not everybody diserves this gift.

PS: King Tubby's story not confirmed, but who cares anyway.

Nah. I Don't. I personally don't give a s*t

about if anybody smoke or don't smoke.
Who cares - that's wright.
I am sort of annoyed, however, when guys make sucha' big freaking deal about it (smoking). It's like if you don't smoke - you don't know or don't understand somthing really magic, mysterious, even spiritual and holi(ish)

Well, I maybe just talk for myself. The simple thing for me is: I don't need to smoke to play bass, or to be able skankin' or dubbin' If somebody does need it - well, that's fine with me too ..heh heh ...
Also I know allots of guys who smoke like old train - almost constantly - and they hate dub music and the whole culture as whole, or I know smoking producers who can't dub a s*t, really ... so where do we go from here?

And man, spiritual maturity? Is it what smoking gives you? Lol. Is it something like: Now you smoke - and thus You have become a REAL MAN. Give me a breake.

Sorry bro if i ennoyed you whith what i wrote, iam just exchanging opinions. But like I said, some might never understand what i write, some say it's just another guy "trippin' on some shit". Fine. But some understand deepely what is really behind using herb, "the healing of the nation". When i wrote "Maturite", i was not talking about being a man, but about being human. Can you see the difference?
Maybe it only applies to me, maybe for you using the herb was a failure.

It's just some guys somehow think that their openions need some HIEGH level of brains and BEING in general to "understand".
Again, the 'smoking' isn't an issue here at all. Nor culture of it (in any forms).
The issue here is: "How to play Guitar skanks" - simple and plain.
You wanna play - then play.
You wanna smoke - then smoke.
If you can't play.... then what? You can smoke, I guess. Will you be a better player if you smoke whith deep "understanding"?
Maybe...well, I guess. It's pretty loughable, thou...
But, here's what's not laughable at all. Ready? Here it is: I dont need Herb To be A HUMAN BEING.
It's too bad, that some guys need it to feel being human...

It may take some level of REAL maturity to understand what I'm saying.

It could be called electro dub or some like that.
Well, maybe it's your own style. I am not saying nothing bad about it but i think that too muh "extras" and "effects" on a track kinda kills it. You titled your song "wicked roots dub", i see roots as simple music.
Alot of people been calling their productions "dub". Give back to Dub what is to Dub.

Anyway, you kinda got on my nerves so iam attacking your music now...heheheh..just kinding man.

ohh, a btw, just so you know.... I don't make my DUB to please any mud-head on dirty earth. I just do it. And thus I don't ask no care about 'opinions' about what i make. you can keep it for yourself.
At least my dub is MINE, and I don't parasite on somebody else's talent, I don't take other's singing, playing recordings, I don't re-record / re-arrange it and then call it "my" productions, like many ever-beloved selebs in dub has done... and still are doing.

Just want to add for Ya: before you comment on somebody's music, you better know it first, so at least you know what you are talking about. Get couple of full real-CD albums, listen to them through on REAL system with clean and open mind. Then you can critisize it as much as you wish. Well, I don't mind anybody say anything about anything regardles. I am an ABSOLUTE FREEDOM fan (freedom of anonimous speech is included

), but when you make comments about something you don't know - it's baseless.

calling anything dub these days... don't even go there and call some of ur stuff "roots". To make "roots reggae" u have to feel the pain. Do u feel the pain? What process do u follow when creating "your dub". No comparison between ur stuff and original dub creators such as King Tubby, S & Robbie, Scdientist and so on (or even new age Jah Warrior, Minds' Eye ect...)... Been in the industry for a while and seen alot of people making "rythm" in their home studio without even knowing what they are doing or where they want to go artistically.
No baldhead Babylonian can make roots reggae.

If you fit this 'definition', then you suck in dub and reggae by default. (heh heh)
Is it racism?
I have my understanding of it. I don't believe it's racism. It's much more like primitive form of tonel vision of the world.
REAL Racism is much more ugly and dangerous. Also It comes in all colors. Rasism is Societal (or individual) Mental Illness, it's not a form of skin pigmentation disorder. No race, no religion, no ethnic group is immune from it.
I personally believe that racism has to be strongly confronted.
As for "mider forms", like simple cultural prejudice, - I don't really know. It's a grey area, sort of speak.
It's similar to what people may think/feel about white rappers of black heavy-metal bands. You'll fine allots of people who just can't take it 'seriously', which sort of makes sense.
Also, man, really, it is all so much different in different parts of the world. If you ask openions on this subject( cultural prejudice ) on the streets of Bronx (NY) or Amsterdam (NL), or Paris (Fr) or Moscow(Russia), or Tel Aviv(Isr) or Tokio(Jap). etc etc etc you name it - you'll find allots of surprises in the answers.

Reggae is music and music is reggae. Reggae has nothing to do with how long your dreads are or what color your skin is.

Roots is projected from your inner essence. If you do roots reggae you write directly from your mind and heart. Nobody else can dissrespect it, for it's not made from their essence. They can dislike it, sure, it's called personal taste. But you can never disrespect an artist (wether it's a painter or a musician).

But somewhat i agree on the subject of dub. You cannot make dub if you don't produce it like dub. Dub is not a couple of delays and some subbass. Dub is the way the music is produced. Using a mixer and the effects.
