from technical/production point for me N01 and No2 records are WishYouWereHere and DarkSideOfTheMoon ...., sorry, I just can't help it..., nothing can beat it in my mind. :( Actually I could only dream about any dub-record to be able to compete with it ..again - :(

From DUBs... hmmmmmm
This is a real tough question. I am thinking of many vary records, and really can not pick one. I just can't. Something is better here, something there. I've got no really DUB-idol. Also , I think, beacause of dub-techniques are very unique in every specific cases, so it is nearly imposible to compare them from techniques point. For example, I can't compare Tubby vs LSP, or MP or ..you name it. They are just different. So it's sort of get to the point of picking the favorite dubs in general...

- any beatles with george martin. especially revolver, sergent pepper and abbey road.
- records by phil spector and john lennon.
- "harvest" by neil young.
- "death of a ladies' man" by leonard cohen, recorded by phil spector.
- "sandinista" by The Clash.

in reggae/dub music, well, not original, but Lee perry. what a man! how doing that sound with his studio? absolutely incredible. a pure genius.

Very, very heavy roots selections there. ;)
Personally, I'd have to say that Lee Perry is my favorite "music-maker" in the world right now, and I believe he is a genius on the same scale as Plato, Einstein, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, myself, and Stephen Hawking...
I'd also mention Oh Carolina by Shaggy....nah, the Folkes Brothers and Count Ossie version. It was recorded in little more than a cupboard; any song which can still move me nearly forty years later, which was recorded in a cupboard deserves a mention.
I think it's the lack of production/technical expertise....

I think my personal favourite dub album from pretty much every viewpoint is "A New Chapter Of Dub" by Aswad and Michael Reuben Campbell on CBS Records from the 1980s. Full horns, wicked dubs, and a totally different angle on a band most people think they don't need to listen to. Think again! This was a landmark release for reggae outside Jamaica and sounds as fresh today as when it was first released.

Production-wise, one of the best recent dub releases was a collection produced by Scruff and Workman called "The Herb" (Early Bird/Roots Records), which featured Little Roy, Horace Andy, Robbie Ellington & Iauwata, and had a really crisp but deep sound. There was a dub version album too.

Also worth checking out is a new release by Restless Machaits from Switzerland called "Kingston Sessions" (Addis Records). These guys rock! Two Swiss dub fanatics let loose in Jamaican recording studios with some of the best hornsmen from JA - fantastic results

love we a deal with
