I downloaded a couple of songs from Kazaa, and they will not play. It is extremely frustrating, and I feel like bashing my skull in. I tried them in Relajukebox and Windows Media Player.

I downloaded one, it wouldn't play, so I opened it in Wavlab, and then saved it and the new file worked in Realjukebox.

These other two will not open in Wavelab (I get this message: "You are trying to open an unknown audio file type.", then it just gives the address of thee file). I also tried converting them to other file type using WMA Converter and CD to MP3 Maker (which are just two conversion programmes I got somewhere). The message I got with CD to MP3 Maker was, "Brain Food.mp3 not a valid mpeg file can't converter!" (sic) which is very offensive to me. ò

I'm wondering is there some "extra cool" mp3 type which is too advanced for my computer? Well, I'm at a loss, how do I convert these files to an acceptable format? Thanks, folks.

it is very possible that the files you've got are not mp3 files at all, or even maybe are not audio-data based files. It can be any 'gorbage'.bs file which has been saved as .mp3 or may even be a some sort of more sophisticated(ly) created type of file. There's allots of trash within a sucha trash-community as Kazaa. Btw, the program itself, which turns your personal-computer into a part of Kazaa-creators server should be much more offensive to you, than just a little file-problem.
Kazaa users do not realize, or do not care to begin with, that what they are doing by using "free software" to get "free stuff", that they simply "donate" their computer to some as*hole to his/her super-network, who makes millions out of nothing, while making you happy by catching a free-spit.

now, closer to your question, again, keep in mind that Kazaa has all kind of "users", most of 'em of course just a guys a gals who want something for nothing, but also there are allots of "users" who wish Kazaa dead, and they do what ever it takes, also there are users who are foollin'around just for fun. Another words, if you want to share, then you have to agree to take all the sh*** what comes with it, and accept what you're asking for.

Thanks man, I am able to play them in another Media Player I have. I checked out the properties, and here's what it said:

Windows Media Audio 9
128 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo 1-pass CBR

I presume that it is the "9" part which is just too advanced for the Realjukebox I normally use. It's quite frustrating, I think I'm just going to record them out, and then back in. Probably quicker in the long run.

I take it you are against file sharing so, Mike?

To be honest, it is something which I do, but am not particularily proud of.

I would never stop buying albums, but I occasionally take advantage, I do think it is okay in some circumstances (I'm not trying to justify it though); for example, a lot of Lee Perry records are illegally licensed, the same with albums like Dub Chill Out. Why pay a theif for stolen property?

Also in a lot of cases, the artists in question are not getting money at this stage, a lot of the early licensed Trojan stuuf for example was not done on a royalty basis.

I would never stop buying CDs altogether, I support Blood and Fire strongly and buy from Trojan and Island also (among others), but I don't neccessarily think some guy in a suit always deserves my money.

All that said, I'm not trying to justify my theivery, but I'm just interested in hearing everyone or anyone's opinion on the matter.

Incidently, you can download Kazaalite which has the spyware removed. Although I am sceptical about that, if Kazaalite is so widespread, what's to stop the official Kazaa guys from putting up a Kazaalite server of their own, which isn't all that "lite"?

Oh yeah, I was offended by the "er" on converter, and the exclamation mark, not the lack of validity ;)

I am 100% against letting someone building multi-million biz based on fake idea of so call "revolution" and so called "freedom".
These as*holes, creators of napster, kazaa and alike or the most people-of-hell, they are speculating on 'greed'.
You see, we all love to trash corporation, 'cos yeah, they are soooo greedy, would do anything just to make a buch. Right?,
well, , as - the consummers are the same greed hell, because we would do anything just to save a buck - it's the same shit , just with a 'twist', you know. So if we can get it for nothing - we will do it.
So these crips from napster, kazaa etc... take this bassic lust for a buck, knowing that it is a universal illness, and on one hand sreamin' bloody-hell: "Death to Corporations!!!!!!", while speculationg on our consumer's greed.
They know full well what it is all about. If we did not want those damn Britney, Jenifer, N'Shfink, M'n'F***ng'M, BackStreetDorks, StarWars-yepppyZode-X and other crap, then there will be no need for their "sharing services".
They say "don't share illegal stuff", right????
Ha Ha Ha, then who would ever use their service... and they know it well, but will never take responsability, but not even they don't take responsability for their sin, they also shift the whole blame on YOU!!!!!!, you see what I mean?
So they take your sin of lust for a buck, they take your computer and lie to the world while making millions on it. Sure they also have got a team of lawers-spin-doctors to keep everything going allright (btw, the orther most pathetic thing about them IS, that they all have a copyright-note on the bottom of their sites, so DON'T YOU dare take TEIR intellectual property away from them and freelly do what ever you wish - I hate their bones!!!!!), so it is nearly impossible to get their as**s here on earth...

, so that's why I've said, the only hope is: "THE GO STRAIGHT TO HELL!",

bin_ez, why haven't you tried using Winamp to play your music files?
That's a great program, it's completely free, and there's no music file that Winamp couldn't handle.
To tell you the truth, i definitely prefer Winamp over Media player.
BTW, Winamp 3 is out now, so go get it.
