Picking AM radio signals on my Fisher Space Expander

Ok...why am I picking up radio frequencies from the AM radio...it seems that the spring tank is acting as an antenna. Does anyone have an idea why this would happen? Has this happened to anyone? Any troubleshooting help?
BTW I built the volume control remote myself based on the schematics of the potentiometer here: http://www.interruptor.ch/Php5/dubboard ... .php?t=234.
I was wondering if that had anything to do with the AM radio frequencies being picked up...the remote pot works fine. I plug it in and then when I switch it to reverb, the AM frequencies begin and I can raise the volume. However, I don't get a reverb effect...is my tank bad?
thanks
