Hi guys, love this site been using it as a reference for a while. Does anyone know how scientist achieves that weird (almost phasing?) distoted bass effect on tracks like the "janest sinclair" riddim (track one on scientist wins the world cup) or "the corpse rises" on the evil curse of vampires? many thanks to anyone can help. bless rob | ||

Corpse Rises is a rare example of the conspicuous use reverb/delay on the bass. There is also heavy eq'ing going on that cuts out the lower frequencies at times (another unusual thing to do to bass). Its not very easy to tell but it sounds to me like a real bass. Maybe removing the lower frequencies naturally results in the slightly distorted/growly sound (or is a natural by-product of the equipment used). It sounds less growly when more bass comes in. | ||

Neil C pretty sure it is a real bass since that disc used the Roots Radics as I recall. FWIW a little distortion on a bass track can produce great results if used right | ||
