hi,
my drum player uses two snares. he uses one normally as a normal snare. the other one he uses as timbales/small tom..... basically, he took the lower skin off the snare and, i think, he tuned it up fairly tight.
so, when he hits the centre of this second snare (which is placed in the position of the first tom) the sound is like a tom. when he hits it near the edge (catching the rim as well) it sounds like a damn good timbales.

Hi,... thanks

I have experimented a lot, got some old drums,
3 snares,. well I had to rip parts from one to
get two snares going, good news I get a drum-
set going almost for free, just wish for a 24"
bass-drum insteadt of only 20" ;-) ,.. as for
timbales I still hope it might be possible, if
not I will have 2 diffrent snares at least

Nice with real instruments these VSTi-days
