does anyone know if lee perry's black ark studio was made out of one single room (ie. recording space and control room, mixer in the same room)? ...i think i read somewhere that he only had one room and looking at the pictures it would seem that way, but does anyone have any sure info?

i ask because i have to decide whether to keep my mixer and reel to reel in the same room where the musicians go, or rather begin to organize the room nextdoor.
if lee perry did everything in one room i think i can relax and not try to follow "official" advice.

what about other famous studios - are there any which only have one room? and what about your personal experiences?

thanks

Hi

In the video "Roots Rock Reggae, inside the Jamaican Music Scene" you see that Perry used two rooms! His mixer was exactly behind a little window where he could see down (!) in the room, where the tunes were recorded!
